Position: EarlyOn Program Coordinator
Reports to: The Manager Francophone Services
Terms: Full-Time (35 hours/week)
Start Date: Immediate
Location: TBD (Note: this is an in-person position)

POSITION SUMMARY

The EarlyON Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of TAIBU’s Black-Mandated EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality early years programming for children (0–6) and their families, grounded in TAIBU’s Model of Black Health and Wellbeing (MBHWB) and Black/African-centred approaches.
In addition, the role includes supervising EarlyON staff, fostering partnerships with community organizations, and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education EarlyON guidelines and organizational policies.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership and Delivery
• Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of EarlyON programs that support the development of children aged 0–6 and their families.
• Ensure programming is accessible to Francophone families, including the delivery of French-language programming and resources.
• Ensure programming reflects the principles of play-based learning and Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen?.
• Integrate culturally grounded, Black/African-centred and Francophone-responsive early childhood practices that affirm identity, culture, and community knowledge.
• Support the implementation of programming that reflects TAIBU’s Model of Black Health and Wellbeing (MBHWB).
• Ensure programs create welcoming, affirming, and culturally safe environments for Black children and families.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the EarlyON program, including decision-making related to program delivery, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Monitor program participation and adapt services to respond to the evolving needs of the community.
• Ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate early learning activities (e.g., play-based learning, storytelling, creative expression, and social skill development).
• Ensure staff monitor and respond to children’s developmental, social, and emotional needs, including early identification and referral.
• Use participation data, caregiver feedback, and community-defined outcomes (e.g., belonging, cultural identity, and community connection) to inform continuous program improvement.
• Establish and maintain mechanisms for community accountability (e.g., community dialogue, feedback loops, and co-design approaches with families).
• Contribute to the development and refinement of program policies, procedures, and service delivery models.

Staff Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise EarlyON staff, students, and volunteers.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for staff.
• Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and scheduling across EarlyON sites.
• Foster a collaborative, respectful, and supportive team environment.
• Support the development of a workforce that reflects the community served and upholds culturally affirming and anti-racist practices.

Family Engagement and Support
• Ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate engagement strategies for Francophone families, including access to French-language communication, resources, and referrals.
• Promote meaningful engagement with parents, caregivers, and families participating in EarlyON programs.
• Provide information, guidance, and culturally responsive referrals and system navigation support related to parenting, early childhood development, and community resources.
• Support parent education sessions, workshops, and community dialogues.
• Ensure programs strengthen parent-child relationships and support family wellbeing.
• Support or establish parent/caregiver advisory structures to inform program design and improvement.

Community Partnerships and Systems Collaboration
• Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, health providers, and social service agencies.
• Participate in EarlyON networks and collaborative community planning tables.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Francophone and French-speaking community organizations to support coordinated, culturally and linguistically relevant service pathways.
• Support outreach strategies to increase participation among Black families, including targeted engagement of Francophone communities.
• Work collaboratively with partners to strengthen coordinated service delivery for families.
• Maintain strong relationships with Black-led and Black-serving organizations to support culturally relevant service pathways and referrals.

Program Administration and Compliance
• Ensure programs comply with Ministry of Education EarlyON guidelines and relevant policies.
• Ensure data collection and reporting captures participation and outcomes for Francophone families to inform service planning and equity-focused improvements.
• Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, incident reports, and required documentation.

• Support the collection and reporting of program data required by funders and stakeholders.
• Monitor and authorize program expenditures in alignment with budget and organizational policies.
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across program sites.
• Ensure reporting reflects both quantitative and Africentric indicators of impact.

Qualifications
• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or a related field
• Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation (or eligibility for registration)
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating early childhood programs and activities
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff and supporting team development
• Knowledge of EarlyON Child and Family Centre Guidelines and How Does Learning Happen? Framework
• Experience working with diverse communities, with a strong commitment to anti-Black racism, equity, and culturally responsive / Afrocentric practice
• Experience building and maintaining community partnerships
• Previous administrative and program management experience
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
• Fluency in French (oral and written) is essential

Compensation:
• $69,034 – $76,875 + Competitive benefits
• Expected salary adjustment in the near future – based on Ministry communication
• New recruits at TAIBU CHC will be enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
