Early Childhood Assistant-Temporary through Canada Summer Jobs Program

As this position has been made possible by the Canada Summer Jobs Program through the Government of Canada all applicants MUST meet the following conditions:

• Be between the ages of 15-30 years at the start of employment.
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of Employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Description of work tasks and responsibilities:

The ECA will support and assist the team by:

• Maintaining a healthy and safe environment
• Interact and socialize with the children in a play setting
• Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration and creativity for children 0-6 years
• Include materials and experiences that are culturally appropriate and represent diversity
• Conduct and assist in storytime and song circle
• Be able to support and guide children with their social and emotional development
• Be able to communicate with the children and families on a daily basis with sensitivity and respect

Qualifications:

• ECE or ECA preferred
• Experience in a Family Resource Program (an asset)
• Experience working in a child care environment
• Experience with children aged 0-6
• A second language would be an asset
• Strong skills working with families & children

EXPECTED Start Date is June 22 2026

Salary $17.60 per hour, 35 hours/week
