What We Offer
We offer a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year, based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The Opportunity
The Donor Relations Team designs and delivers thoughtful experiences that help donors feel appreciated, recognized, and deeply connected to the difference they make. A strong donor relations program expresses gratitude, honours donor intent, and demonstrates accountability in ways tailored to each donor segment.
We collaborate with colleagues across the Foundation to move donors seamlessly from cultivation to stewardship and back to joyful engagement. By being both proactive and responsive, we create authentic touchpoints that strengthen donor relationships and help elevate health care in Richmond.

Reporting to the Chief Donor Experience Officer, the Donor Relations Officer works closely with members of the Donor Relations team and colleagues across Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications.
In this role, the Officer manages a donor segment portfolio and leads personalized stewardship plans, creating warm and thoughtful recognition and engagement experiences that reflect the Foundation’s joyful brand. They bring creativity, clarity, and initiative to steward donors at every stage of their giving journey, ensuring each interaction feels meaningful and aligned with donor intent.
This is a hands-on, highly relational position suited to someone who thrives in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, excellent judgement, and genuine enthusiasm for helping donors feel connected to the impact of their generosity.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Stewardship & Donor Portfolio Support
- Partner with Philanthropy colleagues to lead stewardship, recognition, and joyful engagement for assigned donor segments.
- Develop and implement personalized donor relations plans that honour donor intent and reflect individual donor preferences.
- Deliver high‑quality stewardship touchpoints that are timely, meaningful, and aligned with the Foundation’s joyful tone and brand.
- Identify opportunities to deepen engagement throughout the donor journey.
Donor Recognition, Naming & Creative Stewardship
- Support the Foundation’s naming and recognition program, including applications, approvals, and coordination of signage, plaques, and donor wall updates.
- Maintain recognition inventories and ensure equitable, consistent recognition practices.
- Recommend thoughtful recognition opportunities aligned with donor intent.
- Draft warm, heartfelt content for donor updates, recognition moments, impact reports, newsletters, and scripts.
- Coordinate celebration moments such as cheque presentations, plaque unveilings, and donor milestones.
Donor Events, Cultivation Activities & Tours
- Plan and execute donor cultivation and recognition events such as tours, milestone celebrations, and intimate gatherings.
- Manage logistics, guest lists, event flow, materials, and post‑event follow‑up.
- Collaborate with Marketing on invitations, presentations, videos, and creative assets that reflect the joyful brand.
- Identify new ways to meaningfully steward existing donors and cultivate new supporters.
Internal & External Relationships
- Build warm, trusting relationships with donors, clinical partners, volunteers, and vendors.
- Work closely with Philanthropy to understand donor motivations, preferences, and needs.
- Represent the Donor Relations team with professionalism, curiosity, and enthusiasm.
- Support special projects and team initiatives as required.
Administration
- Understands the Foundation’s key priorities and supports the execution of the annual Donor Relations plan within set budgets in partnership with the CDEO
- Responsible for tracking and meeting allocated budgets
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, able to work outside normal business hours (when required)
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in a relationship‑focused, client‑service, fundraising, or stakeholder‑engagement role.
- Understanding of the donor journey and the role of intentional stewardship.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to engage with warmth, grace, and confidence.
- Sound judgement, excellent discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Experience with volunteers, committees, or boards is an asset.
- Event planning experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adaptable across audiences.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge or similar) and digital tools such as Constant Contact.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a resource-constrained environment.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese (written and verbal) is considered an asset.
