Role purpose
The Director, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships is responsible for advancing the organization's strategic priorities through the identification, development and execution of high impact initiatives, partnerships and new value creating opportunities.
This role translates action into strategy; leading cross functional work that strengthens the organization's value proposition, expands its influence and supports long term stability.
Key accountabilities
1. Strategic initiative leadership
- Identify, scope and lead strategic initiatives aligned with organizational priorities, translate emerging opportunities into structured business cases and execution plans.
- Lead cross functional project teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Monitor and report on initiative progress risks and impacts.
- Growth and revenue development
- Identify and advance new revenue generating opportunities aligned with NNAS’s mandate (e.g. research funding, partnerships, new service lines, etc.).
- Develop concepts into pilot initiatives and scalable models.
- Support diversification of organizational funding sources.
- Contribute to long term sustainability planning.
- Partnerships and external engagements
- Build and maintain positive relationships with regulators, sector partners and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration, co-development and funding.
- Represent the organization in strategic discussions and working groups.
- Strengthen the organization's visibility and influence within the sector, including attendance at various annual conferences, requiring some travel within Canada and abroad.
- Attendance and participation in some or all meetings of the Board of Directors. This will involve travel.
- Research innovation and thought leadership
- Lead or coordinate research and pilot initiatives that advance sector knowledge and organizational positioning.
- Coordinate and grow the work of the educational review consultants.
- Facilitate working groups to generate stakeholder feedback.
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations and new program opportunities.
- Support development of reports, briefings and external communications.
- Strategic planning and execution support
- Support the CEO in advancing strategic priorities and organizational planning cycles.
- Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and operational execution.
- Develop frameworks tools and reporting mechanisms to track strategic progress.
Qualifications and experience
- 7 -10 years progressive experience in strategy, program development, partnerships or innovation roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex cross functional initiatives.
- Experience developing and implementing new program services or funding models.
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience ideally within regulated or public interest environments.
- Experience in credentialing, regulatory, healthcare or nonprofit sectors.
- Experience working with or alongside regulatory bodies.
- Familiarity with research, policy development or system level initiatives.
- Experience in academic research is an asset.

- Starting annual salary range of $120,000 - $145,998, based on experience and qualifications.
