DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL FINANCE & IMPACT PRODUCTS — VOLUNTEER, PART-TIME

Location: Remote (United States, Canada or Europe)

Time Commitment: Part-time volunteer commitment, minimum 20 hours per week, including meetings and all role work. Four-month minimum.

This is a remote volunteer opportunity with Right to Live Canada, a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit start-up.

------ THE MISSION

Right to Live Canada exists to realize the right to live as a practical, supported, executable choice.

We were founded in response to systemic poverty-driven euthanasia amongst Canadians with disabilities: cases where Canadians choose MAiD because they cannot access the essentials required to continue living. This is a specific form of economic euthanasia: euthanasia where a preferable living future existed, but was not achieved.

That crisis remains our founding application point. It is not the boundary of our work.

Right to Live Canada is building Continuity: the service, financial, technological, and institutional architecture required to keep life connected to preferable living futures. We work from the recognition that biological escape velocity may become achievable for a significant portion of people alive today, and that the right to live must now be pursued with the seriousness, urgency, and scale appropriate to that possibility.

Our four core areas are:

• Continuity Service — developing a service to identify, propose, finance and execute preferable living futures in the event of potential death
• Continuity Insurance — developing a finance model for Continuity Service in the event of potential death scenarios
• Social Brokerage — developing a system to productize and sell the anonymized outcome of a life supported to the global market as an impact product in exchange for the capital to accomplish it, in order to fund those who cannot afford Continuity Service or Insurance
• Corporate Farming — developing a global-scale system to take concepts, form a structure around them starting with a team, incubate them internally and nurture their growth towards incorporation, and then emitting them as formed non-profits dedicated to their founding concept such as a technology, project, infrastructure or issue.

Right to Live Canada is a founder-centric, early-stage non-profit pursuing rapid national and global expansion. We use the advantages of the non-profit form — volunteer-class labor, sponsorship sales, grants, subsidized infrastructure, open development, impact monetization, and institutional farming — to uphold and extend the right to live for humans and, ultimately, other conscious beings.

------ ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a part-time, volunteer, and remote department-head role for a Director of Social Finance & Impact Products with Right to Live Canada.

Right to Live Canada calls the model Social Brokerage. It is being developed to turn an approved, budgeted Continuity plan into a standardized impact product that a corporation, foundation, institution, impact investor, or other capital provider can choose to fund. The capital is used to execute the plan, and the buyer receives verified, anonymized reporting on the achieved outcome. The model is early-stage and is not yet operating.

The Director will build and run the Social Brokerage department and own the model from concept through validation, pilot, and a repeatable operating system. They will recruit and organize the teams and specialist capabilities required through People Services, rather than being expected to personally perform every function.

The Director’s mandate is to make the mechanism real: define what is sold and why buyers would purchase it; establish how approved Continuity plans are matched with capital; and create a trustworthy process for funding, execution, verification, privacy-protected reporting, and institutional participation. They will determine the department’s workstreams, assign ownership, validate the model with prospective buyers and specialist partners, and drive it toward an end-to-end pilot.

This role requires a builder, not a general fundraiser. The successful candidate should have personally led, or held substantial responsibility for, taking a comparable social-finance, outcomes-based finance, impact-investment, blended-finance, pay-for-success, or impact-product system from idea into a tested or launched mechanism. The minimum commitment is 20 hours per week, including meetings and all role work.

The Director reports to organizational leadership and works closely with Continuity Service and Continuity Insurance. They have authority to build the Social Brokerage department and issue recruiting requests for the teams and expertise required.

------ QUALIFICATIONS

Universal Requirement:

• You must possess good equipment for virtual meetings, both video and audio.
• You must attend virtual meetings with the capability to give it your full attention, like a dedicated office room or space.

Required:

• Direct experience building or developing a social-finance mechanism, impact-investment product, outcomes-based finance program, social impact bond, blended-finance facility, pay-for-success arrangement, or comparable impact platform.
• Evidence of moving a new financial or impact product from concept into pilot, launch, executed transactions, or operational use.
• Senior leadership experience building and running a cross-functional team, function, program, or department.
• Ability to design a clear impact proposition, buyer value proposition, operating model, transaction flow, and path to market.
• Experience engaging corporations, foundations, financial institutions, impact investors, governments, or other institutional capital providers.
• Ability to lead specialists across impact measurement, finance, operations, risk, privacy, governance, legal, and compliance without pretending to replace their expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit leaders and specialists, delegate ownership, establish accountability, and remove blockers.
• Ability to use AI-assisted research, analysis, and documentation workflows to accelerate development while maintaining verification and professional standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, judgment, commercial reasoning, and follow-through in an ambiguous startup environment.

Preferred:

• Direct experience taking an outcomes-based fund, social impact bond, impact marketplace, results-based financing mechanism, or comparable system from design through capital commitment and execution.
• Existing senior relationships across impact investing, corporate social impact, philanthropy, foundations, financial institutions, or outcomes finance.
• Experience developing financial or impact products involving sensitive human-services, health, disability, housing, or social-support outcomes.
• Experience establishing legal, regulatory, compliance, underwriting, verification, or risk controls for a new financial or impact mechanism.
• Zero-to-one startup, nonprofit venture-building, or new-department experience with responsibility for both strategy and execution.

------ TIME COMMITMENT

This is a part-time volunteer role requiring a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, including all meetings and role work, for at least four months. Right to Live Canada is an early-stage, founder-led organization pursuing rapid national and global expansion. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable with startup intensity, high responsibility, and serious ownership of a new department and system.
