
Director of Marketing Communications
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Marketing Communications to elevate our brand presence, strengthen our digital engagement, and expand the reach and impact of our education and advocacy initiatives. The Director of Marketing Communications would play a leading role in improving the lives of Canadians living with food allergy, be part of a small but passionate and high-impact team driving national change, and lead transformative digital and communications initiatives with meaningful public benefit.
Food Allergy Canada is a national charity and Canada’s leading patient organization committed to educating, supporting, and advocating for the more than 3 million Canadians impacted by food allergy. Role Summary
As the Director of Marketing Communications, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping how Food Allergy Canada connects with Canadians. You will develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy that enhances visibility, deepens engagement, and drives meaningful action among diverse audiences — including individuals with food allergy, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public.
Your first priorities will include:
- Leading the revamp of the Food Allergy Canada website to improve user experience, accessibility, and impact.
- Digitizing key educational assets to create scalable, engaging, and interactive online learning tools.
- Building and strengthening the organization’s social and digital media presence, fostering a vibrant and informed online community.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a comprehensive website redesign to create an engaging, accessible, and user-centric digital experience.
- Oversee the modernization and digitization of educational resources and programs.
- Manage brand consistency and ensure storytelling reflects the organization’s values, mission, and impact.
- Develop and execute digital and social media strategies to grow reach and engagement.
- Work cross functionally to deliver the marketing communications support for various initiatives and content.
- Manage and mentor communications staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Collaborate across the organization to ensure message alignment and maximize impact.
- Oversee communications budgets and performance analytics to inform ongoing improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, including digital strategy and leadership.
- Proven experience managing website redesigns, digital transformation projects, or online education platforms.
- Ability to crystallize complex ideas and information and turn them into easy-to-understand concepts.
- Strong storytelling, content development, and campaign management skills.
- Strong proficiency in writing, editing, and creating presentations.
- Deep understanding of social and digital media platforms and analytics.
- Collaborative leader who thrives in a mission-driven, resourceful, and fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the health, nonprofit, or education sectors is an asset.
