Are you ready to dive into a fast-paced environment where your talents will help shape a

growing social purpose organization? Partners for Affordable Housing is on a mission to

tackle one of Canada’s most urgent challenges–housing affordability–and we’re looking for a

strategic, creative Director, Marketing & Communications to elevate our voice, strengthen

our brand and grow our impact.

This is a unique opportunity to help build and scale an organization from an early stage,

contributing directly to innovative, systems-level solutions that create lasting impact. If you're

energized by possibility, passionate about social change, and ready to roll up your sleeves,

we want to hear from you.

About Us

Partners for Affordable Housing (Partners) is a national social purpose organization

committed to unlocking access to permanent, affordable, and accessible housing for the 4.4

million people in Canada who need it. Through collaboration with government, philanthropy,

financial institutions, and nonprofit housing providers, we work to accelerate the

development of non-market housing by addressing systemic barriers, aligning funding, and

building local capacity.

We are a catalyst for bold, cross-sector solutions rooted in equity, inclusion, and community-driven

impact. Join us in our mission to make affordable housing a reality for all Canadians.

Your Role

You are a strategic and creative communications leader who thrives at the intersection of

storytelling, reputation management, and social impact. Reporting to the Chief Marketing

Officer, you will shape and lead a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy

that amplifies Partners’ voice, deepens trust with stakeholders, and inspires public

engagement on Canada’s housing crisis. You bring both strategic vision and hands-on agility

— equally comfortable crafting narratives that influence national conversations as you are

guiding the creative execution that brings them to life. While communications and public

relations are at the heart of this role, you also bring a solid grasp of brand strategy, digital

engagement, and marketing execution that ensures consistency, creativity, and impact

across every platform. You will build and mentor a small but growing team, collaborating with agency partners and colleagues across the organization to ensure Partners’ story is told with

authenticity, purpose, and power.

Your responsibilities will include:

Communications & Public Relations

• Build and manage relationships with media, sector partners, and stakeholders to

amplify visibility.

• Lead proactive storytelling, thought leadership campaigns, and rapid-response

communications.

• Ensure accessible, inclusive, and equity-informed communications that reflect

Partners’ values.

• Serve as spokesperson as needed and prepare executives for public engagements

and events.

• Anticipate reputational risks, manage issues proactively, and ensure campaigns

reinforce Partners’ credibility as a trusted national voice.

Marketing & Brand Leadership

• Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy

aligned to Partners’ mission and strategic priorities.

• Strengthen brand identity and positioning, ensuring consistent messaging across all

channels.

• Lead development of marketing campaigns and collateral to support fundraising,

partnerships, advocacy, and events.

• Oversee production of key publications and materials (impact reports, impact stories,

newsletters, presentations, digital content).

• Oversee website, social media, and digital channels to grow audiences and

engagement.

Public Awareness Campaign Design & Execution

• Develop and lead the strategy for annual/semi-annual national campaigns that

advance Partners’ mission and highlight the urgency of Canada’s affordable housing

crisis.

• Create campaign briefs, oversee creative development, and manage execution

across multiple channels (digital, print, broadcast, earned media, and events).

• Align campaigns with advocacy priorities, ensuring they raise public awareness while

supporting policy influence and stakeholder engagement.

• Partner with governments, funders, media, and sector organizations to expand reach

and strengthen impact.

• Establish campaign KPIs, track performance, and provide regular reporting and

insights to leadership and the Board.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Build, supervise and mentor communications/marketing staff, fostering a highperforming,

collaborative culture.

• Collaborate closely with development, partnerships, and program teams to align

marketing with organizational goals.

• Manage marketing and communications budgets, vendors and agency partners.

• Contribute to organizational strategy as a member of the management team.

What you Bring

• 7–10 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or brand

leadership, ideally in the nonprofit, philanthropic, or social purpose sector.

• Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex

ideas into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.

• Proven expertise in media relations, reputation management, and strategic

communications, complemented by strong experience in brand building and digital

engagement.

• Track record of developing and executing integrated communications and marketing

strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and impact.

• Experience in creative campaign development and execution is an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage external vendors or agency partners

effectively.

• Collaborative, values-driven leadership style with the ability to thrive in fast-paced,

high-growth environments.

• Knowledge of affordable housing, community development, or related social issues

considered an asset.

• Bilingualism (French/English) a strong asset.

Working Conditions and Benefits

• Partners for Affordable Housing is a national organization with a virtual team. This role

will be based in the Greater Toronto Area and follows a hybrid work model, combining

remote work with in-person meetings and collaboration. Regular presence in the city

will be required for media engagements, stakeholder meetings, and events. We offer a

flexible and supportive work environment designed to help you thrive.

• Competitive salary in the range of $110,000 – $140,000, commensurate with

experience, coupled with a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental,

life insurance, and vacation time.

• Meaningful opportunities for leadership, learning, and professional growth within a

supportive and dynamic environment where your contributions can drive real impact.

Why Join Us?

At Partners, you’ll join a dynamic, women-led team committed to equity, innovation, and

community-driven impact.

• Impact: Play a critical role in shaping how Partners communicates its vision and

inspires action on Canada’s housing crisis.

• Innovation: Be part of a forward-thinking organization that values creativity,

collaboration, and bold storytelling.

• Leadership: Contribute as a key member of the management team, influencing

strategy and outcomes across the organization.

• Hybrid Work: Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work, with a blend of remote and in-person

collaboration that empowers you to thrive.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your resume and cover letter

outlining your qualifications and why you are passionate about affordable housing to

connect@pfah.ca. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and only those selected

for an interview will be contacted.
