Breakthrough T1D is growing our Leadership Giving team and we’re searching for an experienced professional for the role of Director Leadership Giving, Eastern Canada.

If you’re a proactive, strategic, and bilingual fundraising professional who would like to lead major gift fundraising across Eastern Canada, please read on to see if this is the right fit for you.

Here’s what your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of new and existing donors through strategic cultivation, solicitation and stewardship that secure major gifts ranging from $5,000-$1,000,000;
  • Develop and execute individualized donor strategies aligned with organizational priorities and campaign objectives;
  • Lead disciplined moves management strategies that deepen donor engagement, increase gift levels, improve retention, and advance prospects through the giving pipeline;
  • Deliver personalized stewardship and engagement strategies that inspire transformational, multi-year, and stretch commitments;
  • Build meaningful relationships with qualified prospects that result in new and diversified revenue streams. Collaborate with a team of major gift professionals to identify and qualify prospects and build appropriate strategies to capture giving potential;
  • Recruit, engage, and support volunteer leaders and campaign cabinet members to expand networks, identify and cultivate prospects, and advance fundraising opportunities;
  • Serve as a strategic partner to regional staff to develop and execute integrated donor strategies that deepen engagement and increase philanthropic investment;

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 7 years progressive leadership experience in fundraising and a University or College degree in Business Management, Fundraising or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual in French and English required
  • Thorough understanding of the development of major gifts, with proven success closing major gifts and partnering with senior volunteers
  • Experience building consensus and achieving results in a complex business environment
  • Strong data analysis, strategic planning, and results-oriented skills
  • CFRE designation an asset

Working Style

  • An entrepreneurial spirit to grow major gift program by moving quickly on opportunities
  • Ability to identify leadership giving opportunities and quickly assess interest, capacity and connection
  • Resourceful and organized; able to manage competing priorities, complex situations and deadlines

Other position requirements to note:

  • Understanding of type 1 diabetes or auto immune conditions and the process of peer-reviewed research is an asset
  • Flexible hours to accommodate various meetings and events with staff, volunteers and donors are a requirement for this position
  • Ability to travel to meet with donors, volunteers and stakeholders as needed (approx. 30%)
  • A Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle is required; Must reside in the Greater Montreal area

The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $90,000 - $120,000, commensurate with skills and experience level of the selected candidate.

Location Preference: Required in the Greater Montreal area to support our stakeholders in Eastern Canada region.
