Director, Development
Director of Development
This is an exciting – transformative – time at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society.
We’re proud of a long tradition of care and compassion as local leader in animal welfare. We are valued for our community services… and we’re well-supported.
At the same time, we are unsatisfied. We are not meeting the needs of a growing community. We’ve outgrown our facility. And we are determined to do more.
Today, we are searching for an accomplished, inspiring and results-oriented leader to assume the position of Director of Development to provide strategic and operational leader at a critical time.
This role is responsible for establishing and achieving OMHS’s revenue priorities and direction as well as continuing to build development systems and practices necessary to support a proactive and evolving fund development plan and a future capital campaign.
Focused on revenue growth, the director will have demonstrated success with identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts, planned gifts, foundations and corporate gift donors. At this time, as OMHS continues with its plans for future growth, the Director will bring a depth of expertise in all areas of fund development and ideally have demonstrated expertise with capital campaigns.
The Director must be skilled at evaluating and strengthening existing revenue streams for annual, major, and legacy giving and must have a can-do approach willing to provide hands-on support to lead and support change within an evolving organization.
The Director will not only possess a great attitude but will be a natural role model for all others. As the day-to-day manager of a broader development team of five others, they will champion teamwork and collaboration and inspire a culture that is positive, productive and fun.
This critical role, as an integral part of the senior leadership, is vital for helping OMHS build and grow great relationships and partnerships inside and outside the organization.
Other responsibilities include supporting board volunteer committees linked to development and marketing, leading the annual planning and budgeting process within the development team and, oversight of the fundraising database ensuring data integrity, standardized protocols and effective integration with other systems.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to make a real impact at a pivotal moment in our history – and have the skills, vision, and drive to help us grow – we’d love to hear from you. Send us your Cover Letter and Resume, and let’s build the future of OMHS together.
