Zamar Music Inc. is a community music arts organization dedicated to inspiring creativity and fostering connection through music. We are building one of the most impactful arts and cultural hubs in Brampton, and our Board is an active partner in that mission.
Role Summary
This Director strengthens Zamar's brand, visibility, and public profile, helping the organization tell its story and grow its audience, supporters, and reputation.
Core Responsibilities (Required of All Directors)
- Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (minimum 75% attendance)
- Review materials in advance and come prepared to contribute to discussion and decision-making
- Fulfill governance responsibilities, including motions, approvals, and strategic oversight
- Act as an ambassador for Zamar Music Inc. within your networks and communities
- Uphold organizational values, including equity, respect, and professionalism
Contributions & Engagement (Expected of All Directors)
- Make introductions that support Zamar's development — donors, sponsors, partners (Target: 3–5 meaningful introductions annually)
- Attend and support organizational events — concerts, showcases, community activations (Target: 1–2 events annually; Board presence is expected across all major events)
- Amplify Zamar's work through personal and professional networks
- Contribute strategic insight aligned with your expertise
Capacity & Accountability
- Participate in fundraising at the board level — supporting campaigns, cultivating relationships, and helping convert interest into support
- Board giving: Directors are strongly encouraged to make a personal annual contribution at a level that is meaningful to them, with no fixed minimum or maximum; what matters is full participation
- Help raise awareness of who Zamar is and what we do, bringing new stakeholders into the fold
- Be present and visible at Zamar events as a representative of the Board
- Participate in an annual board self-assessment and disclose any conflicts of interest
Role-Specific Responsibilities
- Advise on communications, marketing, and brand strategy in partnership with staff
- Support media relations, public profile, and storytelling around Zamar's programs and productions
- Help grow audiences and digital presence (social, web, press, community channels)
- Strengthen messaging that attracts new stakeholders, partners, and supporters
- Model active amplification of Zamar's work and encourage the same across the Board
- Lead or co-lead a communications/marketing working group as needed
Leadership & Engagement Opportunities
This Director may lead the communications working group, advise staff on brand and audience growth, and contribute to strategic planning around visibility.
Suggested Time Commitment: Approximately 6–9 hours per month, higher around major productions, launches, and campaigns.

- Background in communications, PR, marketing, media, or brand
- Strong storytelling and audience-growth instincts
- Media, press, or influencer relationships are an asset
- Commitment to the mission and vision of Zamar Music Inc.
