
Director, Chair of Fundraising Committee
Help a Girl Out (HAGO) is a registered charity dedicated to ending period poverty and empowering women and girls through education, access to essential menstrual products, and advocacy. Since our inception, we've impacted thousands of individuals across Canada and beyond. By joining our Board of Directors, you'll play a key role in guiding our mission, helping us grow, and ensuring our long-term sustainability.
As Director and Chair of the Fundraising Committee, you will spearhead efforts to secure the financial resources necessary for Help A Girl Out to achieve its mission of providing menstrual education and essential products to those in need.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about relationship building, has a strong background in fundraising strategy, and can effectively communicate HAGO’s impact to donors and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, grants, and special events.
Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring effective stewardship and engagement.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities and develop innovative campaigns to expand HAGO’s donor base.
- Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling fundraising materials and campaigns that align with HAGO’s mission.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of donations, including recognition of donors and management of donor data.
- Lead the board’s efforts in donor cultivation and major gift solicitation.
- Work with the Director of Finance to ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and financial needs.
- Keep the board informed on fundraising progress and advise on strategies to enhance donor engagement.
- Plan and oversee fundraising events and initiatives, both online and in-person, to support HAGO’s programs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development.
- Strong network and ability to establish connections with donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Expertise in developing and executing successful fundraising campaigns and strategies.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with donor management systems and understanding of tax receipting processes.
- Passionate about HAGO’s mission and committed to ensuring its long-term sustainability through effective fundraising.
As a volunteer with Help a Girl Out, you are expected to:
- Stay up to date on organizational developments, prepare for meetings, and review and provide input on reports and minutes.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with fellow HAGO members to foster a cooperative environment and support decision-making.
- Actively engage in the organization’s annual evaluation and strategic planning activities.
- Contribute to the organization’s fundraising efforts.
This volunteer role provides a fantastic opportunity to help shape the direction of HAGO while using your skills and expertise to support a growing charitable organization committed to menstrual equity. Aligned with HAGO’s mission, we seek volunteers who bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and knowledge. We especially appreciate those with international experience or unique insights.
