The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) celebrates Canadian health leaders whose achievements have substantially advanced health and wellness in Canada and throughout the world. This tribute to our country’s rich medical history is showcased in the CMHF’s digital Hall of Fame and Exhibit Hall in London, Ontario. In addition, through local and national youth education programs and awards, the CMHF encourages young people to pursue careers in the health sciences, inspiring future generations of health care leaders.
Statement of Purpose
The Director, Campaign plays a vital role on the team advancing the CMHF’s mission. This role provides strategic leadership to plan and implement a $5 million national campaign that will sustain and expand CMHF’s national impact. The Director, Campaign leads the Campaign Cabinet and provides strategic support to volunteer leadership to advance campaign goals.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Campaign will lead all aspects of the campaign strategy—including mid-level and major gift fundraising—while building strong relationships with donors and volunteers. This position works collaboratively across the organization and provides leadership and support to a direct report to ensure campaign success.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive multi-year campaign.
- Align campaign strategy with organizational priorities in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Ensure campaign efforts are well-integrated across the team, including communications, programs, and donor engagement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a direct report contributing to campaign planning and execution.
- Mid-Level and Major Gift Fundraising
- Manage a pipeline of 100–120 donors and prospects, guiding them through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Collaborate with a development colleague to craft compelling proposals for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Support a culture of philanthropy by engaging CMHF team members in donor discovery and relationship building.
- Volunteer and Cabinet Engagement
- Lead the Campaign Cabinet, serving as the primary point of contact and strategic partner to volunteer leadership, building meaningful relationships and supporting volunteer-led fundraising.
- Manage all cabinet meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, advancing pipeline discussions, tracking next steps, and recording meeting minutes.
- Empower volunteers with the tools, training, and insights they need to advance campaign goals in collaboration with the organization.
- Collaboration and Integration
- Partner across departments to ensure campaign messaging and goals are reflected in public communications, events, and education programs.
- Work closely with the development colleague on foundation strategies and integration with CMHF’s overall development plan.
- Campaign Operations and Reporting
- Establish systems and processes to monitor progress toward financial goals, track donor activity, and manage campaign timelines.
- Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Campaign Cabinet members to ensure alignment and momentum.
- Donor Stewardship and Recognition
- Collaborate with the development colleague to design and deliver personalized stewardship plans for mid-level and major campaign donors.
- Ensure donors are appropriately acknowledged and recognized through tailored communications and campaign updates.
Qualifications and Experience
- A university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; CFRE designation is an asset.
- 5–7 years of fundraising experience focusing on campaigns, mid-level, and major giving.
- Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of 100–120 donors, advancing them through the fundraising cycle.
- Strong relationship builder with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working closely with volunteers and campaign leadership.
- Entrepreneurial-minded, able to take initiative, adapt quickly, and think strategically in a changing environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly organized, proactive, and accountable in managing meetings, donor pipelines, and internal systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar fundraising databases.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Canada.
Accountability and Reporting
This role reports directly to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Campaign Cabinet.
Compensation and Benefits
CMHF offers a competitive salary and benefits, a flexible hybrid work environment, and the opportunity to contribute to a campaign that celebrates Canadian excellence and supports the next generation of healthcare leaders. Salary range $90,000-$110,000 based on experience.
