
Director, Board of Directors
Summary:
Dale Brain Injury Services is seeking community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. We are a non-profit, charitable organization that provides community-based rehabilitation services across Southwestern Ontario to adults living with the effects of an acquired brain injury, including stroke.
Our Board of Directors operates under a governance model, empowering the Board to:
- Set and uphold the organizations’ strategic goals and priorities
- Ensure accountability and transparency in the use of resources
- Support the leadership team
This is an opportunity to contribute your skills and experience to an important cause while working with a dedicated team. Previous experience on a non-profit board and/or an understanding of ABI would be considered assets.
Responsibilities:
- Attend Board meetings regularly
- Participate in initial orientation
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with the other members of the Board and with the organization’s management and staff
- Respect and abide Board decisions
Time Commitment:
The Board of Directors allocates approximately 1-2 hours/month to DBIS; meeting virtually approximately 6 times annually; with usually one in person meeting. The Board does not meet during July, August nor December unless necessary.
Term of Office: 2- year term with possibility of renewal

As the governing body, the Board of Directors develops and is committed to the Vision, Mission, and Values of Dale Brain Injury Services, and acts in the best interests of the organization, the healthcare system and the community.

With a goal of maintaining wide-ranging community representation on the Board and foster its ability to provide strategic direction, DBIS seeks individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Business
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Governance
- Healthcare and social services
- Human Resources and labour relations
- Insurance
- Property management
