Mission Services of London is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to serving residents of London and Middlesex County with compassion and dignity. Rotholme Family Shelter of Mission Services of London has an opening for a full-time Direct Care Supervisor. This position is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day shelter operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and services to residents of the shelter and to individuals in the community receiving support, in accordance with applicable legislation. The Direct Care Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Shelters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in program service delivery, including crisis intervention, assessment, service planning, ongoing participant support, and oversight of daily shelter programming while ensuring compliance with health, safety, HR protocols, and best practices.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support direct care staff, including coaching, performance management, onboarding, training, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies, values, and professional standards of care.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules, approve vacation/lieu time, support payroll processing, and ensure adequate staffing coverage in accordance with shelter policies.
  • Oversee administrative and operational functions, including budget input and monitoring, reporting, statistics, funder compliance, and timely submission of documentation to the Director.
  • Foster collaboration through participation in team meetings, shelter leadership meetings, and community/service provider networks, while supporting case reviews, program planning, and coordination of services.
  • Support program development and community engagement, including recreational programming, seasonal events, tours/education sessions, and liaison with external social service agencies to enhance service delivery.
  • Crisis counselling/intervention support assessments and service planning, in keeping with professional standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory/management experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations with complex needs.
  • WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, and CPI certification required. ASIST (suicide intervention) and HIFIS training considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of shelter/program administration, database systems, privacy legislation, and related policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, Landlord and Tenant Board processes, and Housing First initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff, community partners, and service providers.
  • Advanced experience with MS Office Suite and database applications.

Position Details:

  • Full-time with 40 hours per week.
  • Some On-Call obligations.
  • Compensation: $30.00–$33.40 per hour
