About the role:
As Digital Producer, your primary role will be to work with the Communications team to increase the visibility of the Party Leader on social media and in the digital world. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will be part of a dynamic team developing strategic communications for the Ontario Greens, its Leader and MPPs. Travel within Ontario will be required. Hours of work will include occasional evenings and weekends.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing social media accounts for the Party Leader (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, reddit)
- Proposing, planning and executing social media content to align with the Party’s and Leader’s strategic priorities, with a focus on video content creation
- Copywriting for social media posts, video scripts and other copy needs
- Joining the Party Leader on regular tours; planning and execution of corresponding tour content
- Daily news monitoring and rapid response
- Tracking and reporting on social media analytics and performance against internal targets as well as industry standards
- Identifying new opportunities to promote the Leader and Party through digital channels
- Liaising with potential collaborators, partners and allies to coordinate participation in social media content
- Supporting strategic communications planning in collaboration with other members of the comms team
- Supporting with digital advertising initiatives
- Assisting occasionally with events, fundraisers and meetings
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in marketing, journalism, public relations, politics, communications or a related field
- 2+ years experience in a communications or marketing role with social media management experience
- Active on social media and familiar with all major platforms
- Strong content creation skills, with an emphasis on video
- Basic photography skills and familiarity with a DSLR camera
- Basic graphic design skills for social media (eg. Canva)
- Strong copywriting skills
- Superior time management and organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment; flexible and adaptable when things change at the last minute
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- An interest in Ontario politics and/or political communications
- Proficiency with the following digital tools:
- Photo and video editing software including CapCut, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
- Web-based graphic design software, eg. Canva
- Social media scheduling and posting tools, eg. Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.
- CMS, eg. WordPress, Drupal, etc.
- Google Workspace
- A valid G Class drivers’ license
Nice-to-haves:
- Bilingualism (especially French)
- Past political or campaign experience
- Knowledge of the Ontario digital media landscape and avenues for growth
- Proficiency with Meta Ad Manager
