About the Role
We’re seeking a creative and dynamic Digital Media Specialist to lead the development of engaging content across COPA’s digital platforms. This role is focused primarily on social media and content creation, with secondary responsibilities in newsletter and website support.
You will be responsible for managing our social channels, producing videos (including potentially appearing on camera), and supporting campaigns that inspire and connect the General Aviation community in Canada. This is a highly creative position with room for experimentation, growth, and storytelling and is perfect for someone who understands digital engagement and loves bringing ideas that connect to life.
Responsibilities
Social Media Management and Content Creation
- Manage COPA’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok), ensuring timely, engaging, and brand-aligned content.
- Develop creative campaigns, videos, graphics, and stories that highlight COPA’s advocacy, safety initiatives, partnerships, and all aspects of General Aviation.
- Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and build community.
- Capture and edit video and photography content at events as required.
- Monitor trends and proactively recommend new approaches to grow reach and engagement.
- Track analytics, prepare reports, and refine strategies for continuous improvement.
Digital Communications
- Assist in drafting and formatting e-newsletters with engaging copy and visuals.
- Support updates to the COPA website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and a strong user experience.
- Coordinate with external partners (translation, design, technical) to deliver digital materials.
Event & Campaign Support
- Support social media coverage at COPA national events, conferences, and community gatherings.
- Create pre- and post-event content to drive participation and showcase member experiences.
- Assist in developing collateral for campaigns, events, and membership engagement.
Brand and Outreach Management
- Assist in the application of COPA’s brand guidelines consistently across digital platforms.
- Monitor and protect the organization's reputation, proactively addressing any potential brand issues.
- Contribute ideas to strengthen COPA’s digital voice and reputation.
- Support events and partnerships with creative development and deliverable execution.
- Assist in coordinating collaborators and contributors for creative development and brand opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or related fields.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in social media management or content creation (internship or student work is applicable).
- Demonstrated experience creating video content, social campaigns, and graphics (please provide a portfolio or samples).
- Familiarity creating and managing content on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Strong storytelling skills, with an eye for trends and compelling content
- Proficiency in tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator), or equivalent.
- Experience with social media management tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content for different audiences and channels.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
- Comfort being on camera and/or filming others (interviews, features, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver on project timelines.
- Knowledge of or passion for General Aviation in Canada is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
