Join the National Institute on Ageing (NIA) as a key connector in our mission to shape a better future for older adults in Canada. As the Development Officer, you'll help turn bold ideas into action by supporting partnerships, stewarding donor relationships, and driving engagement initiatives.

You’ll manage a portfolio of partners and donors by building meaningful connections through cultivation, solicitation, and thoughtful stewardship. Your role will also include coordinating impactful donor-focused events, working with cross-functional teams, and supporting special projects that advance our mission.

From organizing donor logistics to collaborating across departments at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), you’ll play a vital role in promoting the NIA’s work and expanding our community of changemakers.

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree program in a related field with specialty or focus in fundraising.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of fundraising experience is required.
  • Must have experience building and maintaining relationships with donors.
  • Must have experience identifying prospects.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or not-for-profit environment in marketing, promotions, fundraising planning and communications.
  • Experience coordinating small and/or medium -scale events and handling contracts and related budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and secure qualification meetings with new prospects, and successful solicitation of gifts of $1000 a year or more.
  • Thorough knowledge of advancement programming.
  • Ability to present to a variety of audiences and captivate their attention.
  • Extensive computer skills; demonstrated use of fundraising database(s) (Salesforce) and MS Office as well as Google Workspace.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
