POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Director oversees all aspects of Women’s Para Hockey of Canada development
programming. This strategic leadership role ensures the implementation of para hockey development activities for girls and women + from underrepresented groups across Canada, by promoting mentorship and creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments without barriers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of development programming.
- If requested, providing legal education and training to staff to ensure awareness and understanding of policies and compliance obligations.
- Develop and manage the budget, working closely with the Grants Director, while ensuring
financial sustainability for development programming. - Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, trainers, and support staff for development activities.
- Maintain communication with participants and members, promote program growth, ensure
participant satisfaction, and improve retention through quality programming and facility
excellence. - Lead promotional efforts to increase program visibility and participation, including advertising
and community outreach. - Manage day-to-day operations, including registration, scheduling officials, coordinating logistics and maintaining inventories of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all programs and facilities comply with safety standards, risk management protocols, and legal requirements.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:
We are looking for someone with a strong leadership and organizational skills to manage programs and volunteer effectively; financial acumen for budgeting, and grant management; excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with coaches, athletes, volunteers, and community members; and knowledge of sports rules, regulations, and best practices with women in sport.
*This is a volunteer, unpaid position. WPHC vision is to contribute to the health and well-being of girls and women+ with disabilities by developing, promoting, and providing opportunities to participate in the sport of para hockey from grassroots development to an elite level throughout Canada. Through sport, develop an environment and attitude that promotes inclusion, collaboration, teamwork, self-efficacy, and gender parity, while educating and empowering girls and women+.
