
Development & Communications Coordinator
PARC is seeking a motivated and committed Development and Communications Coordinator to lead the implementation of our fund development and communications strategies. Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, this role will oversee the delivery of fundraising and communications activities, including donor stewardship, grant prospecting and applications, individual giving campaigns, database management, and storytelling. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about community impact. This is a hands-on role with room to contribute ideas, shape initiatives, and play a key part in advancing PARC’s mission.

Since 1980, the Parkdale Activity–Recreation Centre (PARC) has been committed to creating a community where people can rebuild their lives. We work closely with over 30 partner agencies across Toronto to support members experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, homelessness, food insecurity, and poverty. PARC members engage in a variety of programs designed to meet their needs and foster a sense of belonging. These include our Drop-In Centre, Peer Support and Outreach Programs, Supportive Housing, and Community Engagement initiatives. Every day, PARC strives to combine practical support with opportunities for connection and community.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Development (approx. 70%)
· Lead the implementation of PARC’s Fund Development Strategy to achieve annual fundraising goals.
· Manage the full donor lifecycle: prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition.
· Manage and maintain PARC’s donor database/CRM, ensuring accurate records, reports, and donor stewardship.
· Research and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, foundations, and individual donors.
· Coordinate individual giving campaigns (monthly giving, online appeals, special initiatives) and donor stewardship activities.
· Assist in the planning and delivery of fundraising events, including donor communications and follow-up.
· Coordinate volunteers for fundraising activities including bingo assignments, community engagement events and fundraising events.
· Ensure timely and accurate donor recognition and receipting.
· Monitor progress against fundraising targets and prepare regular reports
Communications (approx. 30%)
· Support the planning and implementation of PARC’s communications strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational strategic priorities.
· Contribute content for newsletters, website, social media, and donor materials, highlighting PARC’s impact and member stories.
· Work directly with members to capture stories, photos, and insights for fundraising, communications, and events, ensuring consent and comfort are prioritized.
· Manage PARC’s social media and online presence, preparing reports and recommendations for growth.
· Help coordinate the production of the Annual Report and other key publications.
· Work with staff and members to gather stories, photos, and testimonials for use in fundraising, advocacy, and donor stewardship.
· Ensure communications reflect PARC’s values of equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Requirements
Education & Experience
· Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
· 2–3 years of experience in fund development, donor relations, or communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
· Experience managing donor databases or CRMs (e.g., CanadaHelps, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
· Experience writing grant proposals, donor communications, or fundraising materials.
