We live in a constantly changing world. The way we do business, develop medical treatments, play sports, educate students and much more is growing and changing with technology, research and discovery, oversight and best practice standards. Church is no different! At St. Andrew’s United Church, Niagara Falls, church is much more than the traditional platform for teaching religious doctrine. Our faith leads us to real and practical service of those in need. We work in the non-profit spaces of community outreach programs to benefit the marginalized, outreach and welcome for newcomers to Canada, partnership with support groups such as AA and NA, partnering with Scouts, engaging with partners in justice work such as Nutrition Partners Niagara, Project Share, PFLAG and other Equity and Inclusivity groups, Environmental justice activists, and we develop and offer our own psych-spiritual programs like grief support group and mindfulness class open at no charge to the public. Everyone is welcome. Many of the people who benefit from our programs may either not attend church or may have very little money to contribute. We believe that this is the right time to include a professional with experience and understanding of connecting interested supporters to our work.
Objectives of this role
- Promote awareness of our church’s mission and work both within the congregation and to the greater community
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors through a thoughtful cultivation and stewardship plans
- Plan fundraising initiatives to help the church meet financial goals
- Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop
- Spot new fundraising opportunities
- Increase awareness of our programs and ethos through a well-organized online presence across social media platforms to attract both local and non-local contributors
Responsibilities
- Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
- Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships
- Re-engage lapsed donors
- Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities
- Develop a marketing plan to convey the good work of St. Andrew’s United Church
- Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving
- Effectively convey the church’s mission, vision, and programs to current church members and potential donors
- Write grant applications and fundraising proposals
- Maintain complete and orderly records of donors and manage regular donor communications
- Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers
- Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met
- Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements
- Monthly reports to the Stewardship team
- Strategic development and oversight of online presence
