ABOUT THE JOB:


The Manager of Development and Partnerships represents a key leader of CMHA BC Division’s fundraising team, responsible for driving strategic fund development, fostering partnerships, and advancing the organization’s mission. This role plays a critical part in revenue generation, donor engagement, and the long-term sustainability of CMHA BC Division’s fundraising efforts. The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Development & Communications and work very closely with the Manager of Communications & Marketing to help guide the organization’s mission, vision, and values by developing and implementing strategic fundraising projects.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The duties and responsibilities associated with this position are described below.

Leadership


• Work with all necessary teams within CMHA to identify community needs and align those with funding opportunities.
• Regularly keep the Senior Director informed of opportunities and emerging issues for effective decision-making.
• Manage and oversee the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of direct reports.
• Manage performance and disciplinary matters up to and including termination for direct reports.
• Provide leadership and effective management to support the achievement of program outcomes.
• Demonstrate a positive professional presence, inspiring and building confidence both within CMHA BC and among a broad range of constituencies.
• Lead a team of fundraising professionals and provide coaching and mentorship, elevating, empowering, and growing their success and abilities.
• In collaboration with the Senior Director, develop the department’s annual strategic goals, budget, and monitor fiscal performance throughout the year.

Fund Development


• Develop, implement, and measure short and long-term fundraising strategies. Includes campaigns, targeted cases of support, and multiple sources of giving (planned giving, grants, an evergreen campaign, third-party fundraising, external partnerships).
• Collaborate with internal teams to collect necessary data and program details to research, draft, and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding for our programs and initiatives.
• Lead the research, writing, and submission of compelling grant and partnership proposals, ensuring alignment with program needs and organizational priorities
• Support the Senior Director in creating strategies and tactics to maximize revenue while ensuring the development of a pipeline of future donors and partners who are deeply committed to the impact of CMHA BC Division.
• Develop and maintain a data-driven approach to fundraising by analyzing donor trends, campaign performance, and engagement metrics. Provide regular reports to the Senior Director, leveraging insights to refine future strategies and optimize fundraising performance.
• Track donor recognition and stewardship programs to maximize donor satisfaction and retention, identifying opportunities to strengthen the organization’s fundraising capacity.
• Track comprehensive metrics and targets for philanthropy activities (both monetary and non-monetary metrics).
• Support the Senior Director in liaising with CMHA branches across British Columbia to support community-based fundraising initiatives.

Event Planning


• Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of key flagship events and campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, brand positioning, and donor engagement strategies.
• Provide project management expertise to CMHA BC Division’s event-based giving programs (e.g. Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women, Bottom Line Conference, Impact Night, and Ride Don’t Hide).
• Develop sponsorship proposals, secure event funding, and oversee event budgets to maximize return on investment (ROI).
• Cultivate and manage key sponsor and partner relationships.
• Plan, execute, and oversee key flagship events and campaigns, ensure that the event content and audience align with organizational and departmental goals.
• Represent CMHA BC at hosted or external events, meetings with significant donors and prospects, and in the media as needed.
• Regularly report to and support the Senior Director with achieving project goals and deliverables. Ensure that the vision and plan set forth by the Senior Director is realized, providing ongoing execution of objectives, timelines, and recommendations.

ABOUT YOU:


Education


• A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (Business Administration, Fundraising or Communications).
• Certified Fundraising Executive designation is considered an asset.

Experience and Skills


• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in fund development, corporate partnerships, or major gifts fundraising, preferably in a non-profit or mental health-related organization.
• Demonstrated knowledge in fundraising, sponsorship, and business development.
• Demonstrated success cultivating, securing, and growing revenue from corporate partners.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Experience working within non-profit societies, with preference given to experience in a field related to mental health and substance use.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Highly organized, systems oriented, like using/learning technology.
• Experience using Salesforce or similar donor CRM.
• Experience in data analysis and reporting.
• Experience leading and managing a team of two or more.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


• This position offers Hybrid work with the expectation of being presence in the Vancouver office twice a week.
• The usual work week is 37.5 hours and business hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
• Ability to travel and work some flexible hours in support of events.
• Salary Range: $76,617.00 - $110,137.00
Typical Hiring Range: $81,405.35 - $95,771.00
• In determining salary, CMHA BC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at CMHA BC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
