Position: Development and Communications Manager
The Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) is a non-profit organization that has been working for over 60 years to promote inclusive practices and advocate for equitable opportunities for Canadians with learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and associated challenges such as ADHD.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent develops and executes integrated fundraising and communication strategies to support financial sustainability, organizational visibility, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Philanthropic Development
- Develop and implement the annual fundraising plan, including campaigns, events, and new initiatives to support organizational priorities and objectives.
- Identify new revenue streams and opportunities for donor engagement.
- Identify, solicit, and steward donors, foundations, corporations, and institutional partners.
- Write grant proposals and manage impact reporting and persuasive donor communications.
- Maintain and leverage the donor database for performance tracking, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
- Establish and manage the annual fundraising budget and provide regular reports to management and the Fund Development and Communications Committee
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship and recognition program.
Communications
- Develop and execute the annual communication plan to increase awareness and support donor growth, including the definition of a digital strategy.
- Manage all communication platforms and bilingual content, including digital channels, publications, donor communications, and promotional materials.
- Develop and implement communications to promote and support national events and initiatives, acting as a liaison between LDAC and its partner associations across Canada and providing them with the necessary communication tools to amplify visibility and impact.
- Track impact, analyze results and provide regular reporting to management. Organizational Contribution
- Work closely with the Executive Director and the Fund Development & Communications Committee to achieve organizational objectives.
- As needed, supervise and coordinate staff, external collaborators and volunteers to achieve goals.
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in communications, business administration, philanthropy, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in philanthropic development and fundraising, with a proven track record.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver fundraising strategies and manage donor relationships.
- Strong knowledge of philanthropic practices and donor engagement tools.
- Experience with IT tools and databases commonly used in philanthropy.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Canva and social media management (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Grant writing experience.
- Proven collaboration abilities.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.
- Bilingualism or excellent proficiency of written and spoken English and French preferred
- Ability to attend virtual meetings across Canada’s time zones.
- One (1) year contract – approximately 30 -35 hours/week, with a renewable option based on performance review
- Salary $65 000 - $70 000
- Primarily remote with the possibility of two, in person meetings per year
