Position Summary


As a Design Lead, you will guide our design function and elevate the overall user experience across our products and brand. You will also combine creative leadership with executional excellence, ensuring our design team delivers innovative, user-centric, and impactful solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—product, engineering, marketing, and leadership—to shape the visual identity and design strategy that drives business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and a culture of design excellence.
  • Define and drive the overall design vision, strategy, and processes across product and brand initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in design systems, user interfaces, and brand identity.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive, engaging designs.
  • Facilitate design reviews, providing clear feedback and guidance to elevate outcomes.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles, backed by research, data, and usability best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies to keep the team at the forefront of design innovation.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, gaining alignment and championing the value of design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional design experience, with at least 2+ years in a lead or managerial role.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UI/UX, visual design, and design systems.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams and deliver results in fast-paced, agile environments.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to articulate design decisions and inspire others.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Solid understanding of user research, usability testing, and data-informed design.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners to balance user needs and business objectives.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React) to better collaborate with engineering teams.

This is a part-time and unpaid volunteer position (8-10 hours a week)
