Customer Service/Registration Desk Assistant Volunteer

Volunteer Type: In person

Location: 3333 Finch Ave East.

Volunteer Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 9am – 12pm

Volunteers Needed: 1-2

Reports to: Customer Services Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Customer Service/Registration Desk Assistant Volunteer supports the daily operation of SPLC’s reception and customer service area by creating a welcoming and professional environment for visitors, residents, and callers. The volunteer greets visitors, answers general questions, provides information about SPLC services and housing applications, directs telephone calls, assists residents with service requests, and completes basic clerical duties. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others and wants to use or develop their customer service, communication, computer, and administrative skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Greeting office visitors and portraying a friendly, welcoming environment
  • Answering questions and providing information regarding SPLC services and housing application
  • Answering telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate staff

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Ability to speak Mandarin or Cantonese is a great asset
  • Professional phone voice with pleasant telephone manner
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Working knowledge of English – both written and spoken
