We are seeking a Coordinator, Warehouse & Logistics. This position plays a central role in the operations of the Brantford Food Bank. The Coordinator leads and actively participates in performing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse and food distribution systems. This role plays a vital part in ensuring food donations are received, stored, and distributed safely and efficiently so that food reaches the people and organizations that need it most. What You’ll Do
As Coordinator, Warehouse & Logistics, your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate the daily operations of the food bank warehouse including receiving, storage, staging, and distribution of food and product.
- Maintain organized warehouse systems that support efficient product movement and storage.
- Ensure food is handled, stored, and distributed safely and in accordance with food safety standards.
- Prepare and stage orders for the distribution of food to Community Food Share member agencies and internal food bank programs.
- Receive and inspect incoming food donations and purchased products.
- Track and maintain accurate inventory records and product movement.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and ensure product is rotated according to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs or surpluses to procurement and administrative staff.
- Coordinate distribution of food to Community Food Share member agencies.
- Create and communicate available food offers to partner organizations.
- Prepare and stage agency orders to ensure accurate and timely distribution.
- Work collaboratively with procurement and transportation staff to coordinate food recovery pickups and donation deliveries.
- Support the efficient intake and processing of recovered food.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety checks of warehouse equipment and facilities.
- Monitor the condition of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and refrigeration units.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and food recovery vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records related to food received, stored, and distributed.
- Complete internal reports and provide operational data to administrative staff.
- Support organizational reporting related to food distribution and program outcomes.
- Provide direction and support to volunteers assisting with warehouse activities.
- Train volunteers on warehouse procedures, food safety practices, and safe handling of food products.
What You Bring
- 2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics coordination, or inventory management.
- Experience in food distribution, food service logistics, or nonprofit operations is considered an asset.
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset.
- Strong organizational and logistics coordination skills.
- Experience managing inventory systems and tracking data.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety and food handling standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
