Description:
The Toronto School of Theology (TST) is Canada’s premier ecumenical theological consortium and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. TST consists of seven member colleges and serves to promote collaboration among the member colleges and with other educational institutions in ways that foster excellence in research and scholarship, quality student experience, genuine community, and ensures standards around academic matters.
The Coordinator, Ministry and Pastoral Formation Hub, is a new position that coordinates the delivery of integrated academic services related to programs oriented to ministerial leadership, which is key component of a new initiative of the Toronto School of Theology (TST) and five of its member colleges. The Coordinator will focus on experiential learning supports, student placement processes and relationship-building with ministry partners as well as enrolment management activities, and support curriculum and course rationalization.
The ideal candidate will be a team-player, self-starter, efficient, and creative with a positive attitude, and will have a familiarity with formation for ministry leadership and ministerial contexts today.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administrative Academic Support
- Maintain records of approved placement sites, insurance requirements, safety compliance.
- Lead and coordinate approval process for field placements and experiential learning on behalf of the member colleges.
- Recommend placement opportunities to the member colleges.
- Build partnerships with professional bodies.
- Strengthen the network of field placement sites.
- Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM)
- Collect, summarize and interpret enrolment, recruitment, and student lifecycle data.
- Assist the member colleges in setting SEM goals for formation programs in collaboration with the colleges and serve as data resource person for the colleges.
- Assist and support the development of recruitment and engagement strategies, especially for hybrid and online programs.
- Engage alumni and ministry practitioners to inform curricular needs.
- Curriculum Rationalization, Planning and Scheduling
- Oversee and coordinate the transition of course planning to software-supported scheduling tools.
- Identify duplicated courses and recommend course-sharing opportunities.
- Support curricular innovation aligned with ministry needs.
- Student Experience and Support
- Serve as support and resource for member colleges and students navigating placements and program requirements.
- Support remote, hybrid, and online learners.
- Data, Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Develop tools for tracking placements, SEM outcomes, and curricular efficiencies.
- Collect data related to experiential learning and quality assurance.
- Identify areas for improvement through feedback and assessment.
Education:
Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree or equivalent, e.g. Master of Theological Studies (MTS) or Master of Psychospiritual (formerly Pastoral) Studies (MPS).
Experience:
Minimum four (4) years’ experience in ministry; requires knowledge of needs for modern pastoral leadership. Knowledge of and experience with the University of Toronto or the TST system an asset.
Skills:
- Strong relationship-building, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to work across institutions with diverse denominational identities.
- Ability to develop and foster relationships.
- Ability to track data, changes in policy, etc.
- Knowledge of online/hybrid program delivery.
- Familiarity with CSR software(s) an asset.
Other:
Ability be attentive to the needs of students and faculty in the changing contexts of both higher education and ministry; a collaborative team-player; self-starter; comfortable working in an ecumenical Christian and multi-faith context.
Appointment Type: Full-time (35 hours/week); continuing. This is an in-person position.
Pay Scale Group, Range & Hiring Rate: TST 07N ($69,212 - $81,426) - expected hiring rate of $69,212
