Position Overview

The Coordinator—Marketing and Communications will be an essential part of the organization’s daily operations, helping to build a national community through social, program, and communication activities. They will report to the Chief Executive Officer, maintaining existing programs; writing new content in a variety of formats; and creating engaging materials to support the organization’s goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities

Marketing

  • Create social media posts (including visuals) for all social channels, aligning with existing and emerging priorities.
  • Publish a quarterly newsletter for the brain injury community, with the opportunity to improve and grow content and process.
  • Facilitate content updates for various online programs, including braininjurycanada.ca; britecanada.ca; our online courses; and our service directory.
  • Aid in the creation of multimedia materials for presentations, fundraising, and advocacy work.
  • Lead the creation, coordination, and execution of national campaigns that raise public awareness of brain injury, enhance fundraising outcomes, and build stronger support for Brain Injury Canada’s programs and initiatives.
  • Help drive fundraising growth by contributing to donor communications, engagement and digital fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to strengthen the Brain Injury Canada brand.

Communications

  • Write new content (such as web pages, news releases, and social content).
  • Create and manage longer-form content development (such as position papers), including research, editing and formatting.
  • Ensure all materials (as appropriate) are reviewed by members of Brain Injury Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee to maintain our standard of excellence for evidence-based information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in marketing, writing, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences with different reading comprehension levels.
  • Familiarity with different forms of writing, including more formal structures and APA formatting.
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting marketing, communications, or fundraising activities in a nonprofit or similar environment.
  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles, online giving platforms, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Experience using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to track performance and inform decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable coordinating campaign logistics and communications across national audiences.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is required

Familiarity with content management systems (Wordpress), learning management systems, and graphic creation programs (Canva) considered an asset.

Minimum 3+ years of experience in marketing, writing, or a related field.

Contract details

  • Remote work from anywhere in Ontario
