
Coordinator, Food Procurement & Recovery

We are seeking a Coordinator, Food Procurement & Recovery. This is a key position within our food bank program, that leads the organization’s food sourcing strategy through food recovery, donor partnerships, and strategic purchasing. You will work closely with retailers, suppliers, growers, manufacturers, and community partners to secure donated and purchased food, while coordinating internally with warehouse and administrative teams to ensure efficient distribution.
What You’ll Do
As Coordinator, Food Procurement & Recovery, your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement strategies to increase food procurement year over year through donations and strategic purchasing.
- Build partnerships with retailers, suppliers, growers, distributors, and manufacturers to expand food recovery opportunities.
- Identify and secure donated food while coordinating food purchasing to meet food bank and network needs.
- Source product availability, obtain quotes, and negotiate pricing to maximize cost savings.
- Monitor market trends and seasonal opportunities to inform procurement strategies.
- Develop annual and seasonal procurement plans aligned with community needs.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with food donors and industry partners.
- Serve as the primary contact for food donors and coordinate recovery opportunities.
- Develop a donor prospect pipeline and conduct outreach to potential partners.
- Prepare donor impact reports highlighting pounds recovered, meals supported, and community impact.
- Support donor recognition initiatives and long-term partnership development.
- Collaborate with warehouse and transportation teams to coordinate the pickup, delivery, and storage of food.
- Share product information and timelines to support efficient logistics planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve recovery routes and maximize recovery efficiency.
- Work with administrative staff to process purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
- Maintain accurate records of food donors, procurement sources, and product volumes.
- Track procurement activity and performance metrics.
- Prepare internal reports on procurement volumes, donor engagement, and cost savings.
- Support improvements to procurement tracking systems and reporting processes.
- Procure food to support both the Brantford Food Bank and the Community Food Share Network.
- Engage with network partners to understand food needs and distribution challenges.
- Use network feedback to inform sourcing strategies and procurement priorities.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, business, or non-profit management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, partnership development, food recovery, supply chain coordination, or nonprofit program coordination.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, or donors.
- Ability to negotiate pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple partnerships simultaneously.
- Proficiency in data tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of food banking, food systems, or community food security is an asset.
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
