Position Overview:
The Coordinator, Development, a highly collaborative role, supports the organization’s fundraising and engagement initiatives, driving the continued financial growth, revenue goals, and philanthropic efforts of Ovarian Cancer Canada (“OCC”). This position contributes to the success of individual giving, corporate partnerships, donor stewardship, and community fundraising events. The Coordinator supports third party and signature events, cultivates relationships with donors, fundraisers, corporate partners, and volunteers and supports administrative functions of the department and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Donor Stewardship
- Establish trust and confidence in the community, securing strategic partnerships, demonstrating leadership and clear and compelling articulation of OCC’s mission, vision, and proof points of meaningful impact on people affected by ovarian cancer.
- Prospect, recruit and maintain relationships with donors, fundraisers, corporate partners, corporate teams, and volunteers to support community engagement and philanthropy goals.
- Develop and maintain a fundraising pipeline of donor prospects and event participants to secure multi-year commitments and additional sources of revenue.
- Support the implementation of fundraising campaigns and appeals, including individual giving and corporate sponsorship initiatives.
- Assist with donor recognition, stewardship touchpoints, and donor communications to enhance engagement and retention.
- Maintain accurate donor and sponsor information in Raiser’s Edge and Luminate databases.
- Generate donor reports, mailing lists, and data exports as needed.
- Assist in preparing sponsorship proposals, stewardship reports, and related materials.
Community Engagement and Events
- Support the planning and execution of community fundraising events and third-party initiatives.
- Assist with logistics coordination, supplier liaison, and event day support, including inperson, as needed.
- Build genuine relationships with individuals in the community, cultivate strategic partnerships and solicit, leverage and engage volunteers to support, initiate and facilitate events.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for event participants, team captains, sponsors, and volunteers.
- Provide exceptional customer service to event stakeholders, responding promptly to inquiries by phone and email.
- Support the organization’s volunteer management program including recruiting, training and stewardship
- Help develop event collateral and coordinate with marketing and communications teams to ensure alignment.
Administrative / Office Support
- Prepare acknowledgment letters, donor packages and assists with any customer service inquiries related to tax receipting (Luminate Online).
- Support budget tracking and expense reporting for events and fundraising activities.
- Support processing of donations, reconciliations and database management, as needed.
- Assist with filing, record keeping, and maintaining organized digital files.
- Support general In-office administrative duties, bank deposits, mailings, etc.
- Contribute to departmental planning and team meetings as required.
- Maintain contractor and vendor relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
- University/college degree in Fundraising/Business or Event Management, or related discipline, or equivalent skills and experience.
- Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in a similar fundraising, development, or event coordination role, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online, PayPal, Square, etc. considered an asset.
- Familiarity and experience with general office procedures; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Highly developed interpersonal, problem-solving, and planning skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service mindset.
- Demonstrated self-starter, capable of identifying the need for independent action, while valuing and developing cooperative working relationships with staff and volunteers.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Professional tact, diplomacy, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently in a predominantly remote environment and occasionally traveling for events.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as event schedules require.
- Bilingualism (English and French) both oral and written is a strong asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high-performing team environment.
- The successful candidate will be required to comply with a police background check as a contingency of hiring.
