PRIMARY FUNCTION
Reporting to the Manager, Intergenerational Initiatives, this full time position is responsible for leading the planning and delivery of The 519’s 2SLGBTQ+Mobile EarlyON programming focused on supporting children 0 to 6 years, families, caregivers, and prospective families of diverse identities and configurations. This includes delivering LGBTQ2S inclusive designated programming in various locations across the City of Toronto as well as contributing to the development of resources and combining the understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion with a play-based learning approach for children and families to celebrate 2-Spirited, lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Gender diverse plus individuals to promote affirming gender and sexual diversity among children and families.
Note: This position will work be responsible for delivering and combination of , virtual, onsite and offsite programming aligned with Public Health and City of Toronto guidelines.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with partner sites to deliver programs and events in a manner which strengthens family relationships, fosters the building of healthy peer support networks, and meets the diverse and evolving needs of LGBTQ2S families across the City of Toronto;
- Lead the development of daily program plans, in several different locations across the City of Toronto, which meet the developmental interests, abilities, needs and strengths of children, and provide opportunities for language/listening development, and interaction between caregivers and children;
- Develop and maintain partnerships with other EarlyON providers, Toronto Children Services providers and community-based organizations offering programs and services to families and children;
- Develop and maintain innovative learning/play areas and activity centres which encourage play-based learning, promoting inclusion and affirmation of gender and sexual diversity among children and families and foster appropriate peer interactions;
- Use needs assessments and program evaluation tools, to identify and measure the impacts and benefits of early learning activities for children and families;
- Work as part of various staff teams to ensure the safe setup, operation, and take down of programs and special events;
- Assist with completing scheduled maintenance, cleaning / sanitization of program toys and equipment;
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of welcoming program spaces, e.g. developmentally and culturally appropriate, and free of bias and stereotypes;
- Liaise with children and caregivers through programs and special events, providing information and informal referrals as required;
- Strengthen engagement and integration with a range of sectors which intersect with children and families to ensure a coordinated and responsive approach to delivering services;
- Assist with coordination, scheduling and training of students and program volunteers as required;
- Participate in staff meetings, program development sessions, and team building opportunities as required;
- Support The 519’s broad activities, adhering to applicable policies and procedures;
- Maintain appropriate record-keeping, conduct research, analysis, and prepare reports and statistical information as required;
- In consultation with the Manager, of Intergenerational Initiatives, ensure that related funding applications, financial and statistical reports are completed within established timelines;
- Participate on relevant networks as The 519’s representative, reporting regularly to direct supervisor on emerging issues and opportunities;
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators and a minimum of five years working in an early years setting;
- Demonstrated experience supporting families and their children, parents / caregivers and prospective parents;
- Ability to travel frequently to designated program sites on a rotating basis, including working with a diverse range of staff, students and volunteers at multiple sites;
- Experience planning, and facilitating participant driven programs and services and special events;
- Working knowledge of legislation relevant to a family support program setting, including the Early Learning and Child Care Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act (MFIPPA);
- Familiarity with early learning frameworks;
- Experience working with 2SLGBTQ+ families, LGBTQ2S communities, and/or gender diverse children;
- Excellent group facilitation experience;
- Knowledge of relevant community resources;
- Highly developed conflict resolution, and problem solving skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing;
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings and travel extensively across the City of Toronto;
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, Canva, Familiar with Wordpress, spreadsheet, and database applications;
- Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR level C (Infant/Child) certification;
- Food Handler Certification from an accredited program.
- Commitment to social justice principles and an understanding of the intersection of gender, race, sexuality, and class; this position requires a commitment to and passion for social justice.
- Demonstrated ability to work with 2SLGBTQ+ communities including demonstrated experience integrating anti-racism, anti-oppression and intersectional values and principles into daily practice.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role that community centres play in local neighborhoods.

Hourly Rate
$29.36/hour starting rate (City of Toronto 2026 Wage Grid for
Union Staff); Range $29.36/hour-$34.00/hour

Vacation
3 weeks per year; eligible for use after first year of employment
Location
Due to the nature of the work, this job will be performed on-site at The 519.
Hours of Work
Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, some evening work will be required.
