Role Overview:

We are seeking a Content Quality Volunteer to help ensure that our written materials are polished, accurate, and engaging. Your attention to detail will help us maintain a professional and credible voice across all platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread and edit written content for grammar, clarity, consistency, and tone.
  • Ensure materials align with Vastiva’s mission and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the research teams to review content before publication.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to enhance readability and impact.
  • Availability to attend virtual team meetings once per month. Other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent command of English grammar and style.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Prior experience in proofreading, editing, or writing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Time Commitment: Flexible (approximately 3–5 hours per week/depending on the project needs).

Start: November, 2025

Position Requirements:

Essential Skills

  • Have decent writing and editing skills. Exhibit good design judgment, give constructive feedback, view bias from distinctive perspectives, pay attention to detail, and be able to manage projects to completion. A desire to learn about the nonprofit publication process and become part of creating a digital social impact.
  • Positive and can-do attitude! Willing to learn new things with an innovative and creative mindset. Organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential. Proactive, ability to make quick decisions, and respectfully portray an energetic disposition. Exceptional work ethic and ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Proficient with technology: Google, Slack, Microsoft, Zoom. Responsive to emails, Slack messages, and calls. Respectful of diversity and inclusiveness policies at our organization.

Remuneration:

  • As an editor at Vastiva, you will gain extensive research and proofreading experience that can be utilized in strengthening your portfolio. You will gain an understanding of the layers of complexity that exist within the humanitarian sector by reading innovative pieces curated by our team of social researchers. You will gain networking, leadership, self-development, organizational, critical thinking, communication, and time management skills.
  • An opportunity to take control of your work, conduct workshops, collaborate, and provide constructive feedback. Optimization of research content on the organization’s website and LinkedIn page.
  • Advocacy for social change with the focus on digital inclusiveness. Collaborate and stay connected with social researchers worldwide in a dynamic team environment using digital platforms.
  • Be recognized for your efforts: LinkedIn recognition and reference checks are available. Please note this is a volunteer part-time remote opportunity with the expected time commitment of 5 to 8 hours per month, depending on the project needs.
