Job Purpose

The Content Design Specialist within the Product Ministry at World Vision Canada will play a critical role on our Agile product delivery teams, leaning into their experience with storytelling as a core discipline, within content design and product delivery. In this dynamic position, you'll be responsible for the content strategy execution based on the defined product vision and priorities. As part of the Agile team, you’ll contribute through hands-on execution while also providing strategic input, staying engaged throughout the full content lifecycle. The Content Design Specialist will combine creative and analytical skills to ensure content is valuable, purposeful, and effectively reaches its intended audience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive content excellence in planning, execution, and analysis.
  • Content Development and Creation: Identify opportunities and execute story-driven content creation with a primary emphasis on writing, while also contributing to content expressed across multiple formats (e.g., articles, video series, interviews, explainers, guides, or interactive content). Driven by the prioritized product backlog, work cross-functionally to turn ideas into impactful digitally driven content.
  • Content Systems Integration: Work within the systems where our content lives in the ecosystem. Identify opportunities on how to leverage content across multiple channels, systems, and audiences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Be the voice of the Agile team’s content approach. Partner with the Product Owner and Marketing Strategist in ideation and planning toward a cohesive story-led content strategy, in alignment with the Product Owner’s roadmap and prioritized backlog. Share progress, gather feedback, and maintain a transparent dialogue with stakeholders. Ensure content strategy and outputs are informed by the needs, expectations, and behaviors of our supporters. Your communication skills will bridge gaps and build strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Metrics and KPIs: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of go-to- market activities. Compile post-mortem analysis results of content initiatives. Use data, feedback and trends to make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
  • Practice Leadership: Seek and maximize opportunities to inspire a subset of our Agile team. Demonstrate functional expertise to those directly working in the same content community of practice. Help foster a culture where every idea is valued and every team member feels empowered.
  • Releases: Coordinate and execute content releases including identifying business goals, risks, managing dependencies, and ensuring that releases meet quality standards and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Apply senior level editorial and storytelling judgment to review and test content, ensuring it meets high standards for clarity, tone, accuracy, and accessibility, and is aligned with the organization’s values and goals.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay ahead of the curve in content, digital and humanitarian trends. Lead initiatives to refine our processes, always seeking ways to do more good, more efficiently.
  • Strategic Visioning: Provide input into product content plans and implementations, aligning it with our mission to uplift vulnerable communities. Your strategic foresight will shape digital experiences that touch hearts and inspire action.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated strengths in storytelling, writing/editing and collaboration experience.
  • 4–6 years of experience using writing as a core discipline, with experience contributing to or shaping content across multiple formats (e.g., articles, video, interviews, guides, or digital explainers).
  • Familiarity with publishing tools, analytics dashboards and marketing automation platforms preferred.
  • Strong coordination and execution skills across multiple channels.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical thinking and proactive issue identification, with the ability to anticipate blockers and optimize delivery.
  • Emerging leadership and peer mentorship.
