Unpaid Volunteer Position

Note – All interviews for successful applicants will take place on January 31, 2026 and February 1, 2026 on an online platform. Candidates who are unable to attend the interviews will not be able to participate in the recruiting process.

Applicants from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are preferred as all events are in Eastern Standard Time (EST) and clients tend to be based in the GTA. However, applicants outside the GTA are welcome to apply with the understanding that their experience may differ. Please note that there will be mandatory in-person training sessions that all volunteers are required to attend in the GTA.

We are seeking Consultants with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Marketing,
  • Strategy,
  • Operations,
  • Business Development,
  • Non-profit or
  • Government.

As a member of the consulting team, you will have the opportunity to work on a 6-month engagement from April to September 2026 to provide strategic management advice to the leadership of a non-profit organization. Teams are led by an Engagement Manager along with five Consultants and mentorship from a Project Advisor with Subject Matter Expertise in the industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Endeavour’s Consultant opportunities, you must have or be in the process of obtaining a post-secondary education (2nd year +) or equivalent experience of 3+ years work experience with a focus in business development, sales, marketing, strategy, operations, non-profits, government roles (directly or indirectly), digital marketing, digital operations and/or digital transformation automation.

You should also be adept at remote work and be available for events and meetings on weeknights or weekends during your consulting engagement. In particular, note the event dates hosted on select Saturday mornings on Eastern Standard Time (EST) noted at the end of this posting.

Our teams are hybrid

At this time, the Orientation and Midterm Presentation will be held in person in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Project meetings will be held online or in person, depending on the preference of the teams and clients. Endeavour will make the necessary tools available for online collaboration and meetings.

What you will do as a Consultant

Consultants participate in all aspects of the consulting engagement from: problem solving to delivering client recommendations.

To be a successful Consultant, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in orientation and training sessions, enhancing your professional skills and networking
  • Presenting at midterm review and final review sessions to fellow consulting teams and members of Endeavour’s Advisory Committee and Executive Team, showcasing the team’s process and learning from peer feedback
  • Engaging directly with clients through presentations, tailored to meet their unique needs and communicate strategic insights
  • Attending regular team meetings, engaging with the teams and the client, and working collaboratively in a team of peer volunteers
  • Developing a statement of work based on team consultations with your client and project advisor
  • Researching, collecting, analyzing and synthesizing data
  • Developing strategic options and recommendations
  • Sharing your experiences and feedback with the Endeavour Executive Team

In addition to the responsibilities of a Consultant, a successful Senior Consultant could be responsible for:

  • Leading the operational consulting experience through setting objectives, coordinating activities, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of the workstream in alignment with the Engagement Manager
  • Acting as a backup for the Engagement Manager in their absence, which involves overseeing the project, making critical decisions if required, and being the point of contact for team members and clients.

Time Commitment

Depending on the phase of the 6-month project, volunteers are expected to commit 5-10 hours per week for project work, meetings and events. Volunteers schedule meetings with their team, client and advisor based on the availability of the participants, and make their own travel arrangements to and from meetings and events.

Event Dates

Volunteers must be available to attend the following events for Round 38, tentatively scheduled for the following dates:

  • Orientation and Training Session 1: April 11, 2026 (in-person)
  • Training Session 2: May 9, 2026
  • Mid-Term Presentation: June 13, 2026 (in-person)
  • Final Presentation: August 15, 2026

Application Instructions

If you have at least four years of experience managing a team and working with clients within a consulting firm or similar business environment, you should consider applying for the Engagement Manager role. If you would like to be considered for a Consultant role as well, you can also apply for that position and will be considered for both.

Please note that the Engagement Manager role is a leadership position within the team and would require a commitment of 10-15 hours per week to lead the team (more details on the engagement manager role are listed at https://endeavourvolunteer.ca/volunteer/roles/). When applying for the Engagement Manager role, please include all leadership, volunteer and extracurricular activities in your resume.

Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed. Applicants are strongly recommended to apply well in advance of application deadline to allow sufficient time to clarify any questions and to resolve any technical issues.

Successful candidates will be contacted during the weekend of January 24 and 25, 2026 for an interview to take place online during the weekend of January 31, 2026 and February 1, 2026. The interview will include behavioural and situational questions, as well as a discussion on a non-profit case to be provided in advance.

ORGANIZATION

Based in Toronto, Endeavour Consulting for Non-Profits is a Canadian charity that provides management consulting to improve organizational capacity and community impact for non-profits that otherwise cannot afford professional consulting. Endeavour has two consulting engagement rounds during the year, in the fall and in the spring. For each round, Endeavour will recruit and match teams of skilled volunteers with non-profit organizations in need of pro bono consulting.
