Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Passion for helping others and making a difference in the community
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff and volunteers
  4. Compassionate and patient demeanor
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect boundaries
  7. Empathy and understanding towards individuals facing challenges
  8. Dependable and committed to making a positive impact

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Social Interaction: Engage in friendly conversations and activities with clients/residents, offering companionship and emotional support
  2. Accompany on Outings: Accompany individuals on outings such as walks, shopping trips, appointments, or cultural events, providing assistance and ensuring their safety and enjoyment
  3. Play Games and Hobbies: Participate in games, hobbies, or crafts with client/residents, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of joy and fulfillment
  4. Listen and Provide Emotional Support: Listen actively to clients/residents’ concerns, offering empathy and comfort when needed
  5. Report Observations: Communicate any concerns or observations about clients/residents’ well-being to the appropriate staff members
  6. Follow Organization’s Policies: Adhere to organizational policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, safety, and interacting with clients/residents
  7. Light Housekeeping: Light cleaning tasks such as collecting garbage’s, wiping surfaces, patient laundry
  8. Sitting Vigil: This may be on your scheduled shift but can also be an option for a on-call shift. This is sitting with the patient when they are close to dying
