About the Organization:

Black Immigrants Thrive Coalition is an organization that supports Black immigrants through programs focused on job readiness, community engagement, education, and advocacy. We aim to enhance the well-being, empowerment, and sense of belonging of ACB communities.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Community Support and Engagement Intern to join the Black Immigrants Thrive Coalition as part of a student placement opportunity. This hybrid role will provide experience in community outreach, program support, and advocacy.

Responsibilities:

• Program Support: Assist in implementing programs that focus on job readiness, personal development, and social integration for newcomers

• Event Coordination: Help organize community events, workshops, and support groups that promote empowerment, belonging, and skill-building.

• Community Outreach: Participate in outreach efforts to connect with community members, understand their needs, and raise awareness about available resources.

• Support Workshops: Collaborate with staff to facilitate workshops on topics such as career readiness, cultural adaptation, and building confidence.

• Documentation & Feedback: Track program outcomes, gather participant feedback, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement efforts.

• Networking & Collaboration: Engage with community partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and foster collaborative relationships.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field (e.g Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Education, etc.).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• An interest in social justice, community support, and advocacy.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

• Cultural awareness, empathy, and the ability to engage with diverse populations.

Soft Skills:

• Adaptability, open-mindedness, and a proactive work approach.

• Patience and sensitivity in working with marginalized groups.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

• Enthusiasm for making a positive impact in the community.
