If you are a natural relationship-builder, passionate about making a tangible difference in the fight against colorectal cancer – CCRAN is the place for you! We are seeking a driven changemaker to support spreading awareness of colorectal cancer and its screening, build stakeholder relationships, and assist with fundraising and events, to positively impact the lives of colorectal cancer patients and their families.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Community Outreach Liaison will work closely with community partners to plan and execute various in-person and virtual awareness events. They will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating awareness campaigns. Their role is to strategize different ways to spread awareness of colorectal cancer and promote colorectal cancer screening. Building strong relationships with key partners and national officials is also a component of their role which will help promote CCRAN across the country.

About Us

The Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) is a national, patient-focused organization passionately championing the health and wellbeing of Canadians affected by colorectal cancer, and others at risk of developing the disease. We provide support, education, and advocacy to patients and their caregivers to help improve patients’ quality of life and their longevity. CCRAN has expanded its patient-focused mandate to now serve a population of cancer patients outside the colorectal cancer space to ultimately reduce the burden of cancer in Canada. Helping those who have been impacted by cancer is at the heart of it all.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute CCRAN’s ‘Jumbo Colon’ events: As the centerpiece of our outreach efforts, the ‘Jumbo Colon’ is featured at medical conferences, consumer expos, hospitals, community awareness/ screening events, and government or corporate wellness programs. This dynamic, walk-through exhibit offers an immersive experience, guiding visitors through the complexities of colon anatomy with interactive audio-visual displays and tactile models. It is a powerful tool for education, engagement, and early detection awareness.
  • Plan and execute exhibit events across the country, securing venues and sponsorships to ensure successful outreach.
  • Manage and execute the logistics of transporting, setting up, and dismantling the exhibit, while also educating visitors on colorectal cancer screening and prevention through engaging, informative interactions.
  • Public Speaking.
  • Assist with ‘BUMRUN’ focusing on the recruitment of champions and fundraisers for the annual 5K walk/run events across the country.
  • Conduct community outreach and recruit and train volunteers to conduct tabletop displays to promote awareness of colorectal cancer.
  • Handle telephone and email requests related to screening queries by assuming the role of CCRAN’s ‘My CRC Screening Coach’.
  • Other functions, as required, to support the team and the organization.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of colorectal cancer, including screening, disease experience, and survivorship, through lived experience or professional background (on the job training is welcomed).
  • Friendly and approachable disposition, with the ability to display a high level of professionalism.
  • Maturity with discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
  • Must be bilingual (English & French) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within Canada, including some weekends.
  • Must have ‘G’ driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Physical capability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.

Employment Details

  • Part-Time schedule with flexibility within the needs of the organization, average 10-25 hours per week.
  • Remote with field-based travel. Applicant must reside in Ontario or Quebec.

  • Salary: The pro-rata annual salary will be subject to the agreed number of working hours per week ($50,000 FTE annually).
