
Community Newsletter Journalist & Engagement Coordinator, Volunteer
TEAO Canada is seeking a volunteer Community Newsletter Journalist & Engagement Coordinator to help us stay connected with our growing community through meaningful storytelling, education, and engagement.
This role supports the development of TEAO Canada’s monthly newsletter by transforming organizational updates, community stories, educational content, upcoming programs, volunteer opportunities, and reflections into engaging newsletter content.
The role is ideal for someone with strengths in writing, journalism, storytelling, communications, marketing, public relations, or community engagement who enjoys helping people feel informed, connected, and inspired to participate in meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate TEAO Canada’s monthly newsletter
- Gather updates from board members, volunteers, facilitators, and leadership
- Write engaging articles, community spotlights, educational features, and impact stories
- Highlight upcoming workshops, trainings, events, retreats, and community initiatives
- Promote TEAO Canada’s educational resources, YouTube content, Linktree resources, and community offerings
- Create reader engagement opportunities such as surveys, reflection questions, community spotlights, volunteer highlights, and reader submissions
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure content reflects TEAO Canada’s mission, values, and voice
- Support community connection through consistent and accessible storytelling
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience or interest in journalism, writing, communications, marketing, public relations, storytelling, or community engagement
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to translate information into engaging and accessible content
- Creative thinker who enjoys building community through storytelling
- Comfortable working independently and meeting monthly deadlines
- Familiarity with Flodesk is an asset, but not required
- Passionate about mental health, trauma-responsive care, social impact, and community development
