Community Legal Worker/Paralegal
The Legal Clinic is seeking a full-time, permanent Community Legal Worker/ Paralegal.
The Nipissing Community Legal Clinic is a community based legal clinic that provides legal services to low income residents of the District of Nipissing. The Clinic is funded by Legal Aid Ontario, governed by a Board of Directors drawn from the community, and located in North Bay, Ontario.
The successful applicant will be practising administrative law including Ontario Works, ODSP, CPP, with an emphasis in Landlord Tenant Law. The Community Legal Worker/ Paralegal is also expected to engage in public legal education, law reform and community development initiatives.
Position Qualifications:
• Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Familiarity with Clinic areas of law
• Excellent research, writing and advocacy skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of, and/or life or work experience in poverty law issues
• Ability to work with diverse groups, including those from marginalized communities
• At least 2 years of experience providing legal services in a community legal clinic is an asset
• Paralegal qualification is an asset (in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario)
• Bilingualism is an asset.
Salary Range, $73,000.00 to $90, 000.00 based on start date and relevant experience. A comprehensive benefit package includes medical, dental and Pension plan.
