Come join our team at the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE)! OSPE is a member-driven professional association that welcomes the entire engineering community to contribute knowledge, skills and leadership to help create a better future for our profession and society at large.

We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator who will be responsible for fostering strong connections between our association and its members, local chapters, and partner organizations. As a nonprofit professional member association serving the engineering profession, we are committed to advancing the field, supporting our members, and promoting engineering excellence through advocacy, education, and community-building.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for relationship-building, a strong understanding of member-based organizations, and a commitment to serving professional communities. What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain professional engineering members across various career stages.
  • Support local chapters and volunteer leaders with resources, guidance, and regular communication to strengthen chapter activity and member involvement.
  • Coordinate member recognition programs and initiatives that highlight member contributions and achievements.
  • Facilitate partnerships that enhance member value and expand the association’s reach.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support conferences, career development workshops, and STEM outreach events.
  • Develop targeted outreach campaigns to increase participation in programs, events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on engagement trends and member satisfaction to inform strategic decisions
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • 2+ years of experience in community engagement, member relations, or program coordination, ideally in a nonprofit or member-based organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to engage diverse professional audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and membership databases or CRMs.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work some evenings or weekends for events
  • Familiarity with the engineering or STEM professions is a plus.
  • Experience supporting volunteers, local chapters, or member interest groups.
  • Knowledge of association management software (e.g., WICKET, or similar).
  • Knowledge of community management software (e.g., Higher Logic, or similar).
  • Event planning and project management experience.
  • A driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with engineering schools, firms, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the association at industry and community events, career fairs, and networking opportunities.
  • Plan and execute member engagement events such as webinars, networking receptions, volunteer appreciation activities, and community service initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing/communications team to develop content for newsletters, social media, and the association’s website that promotes community engagement initiatives.
  • Track engagement metrics, member feedback, and event participation to assess the effectiveness of community-building efforts.
  • Leverage digital platforms (e.g., online forums, community portals, CRM data, and social media) to engage members year-round.

Your Skills & Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
