About Us

Eden Food for Change has been a trusted leader in community food access in Mississauga for over 35 years. We are committed to increasing access to good food with dignity, encouraging healthy eating through food skills training, and empowering the community through outreach, education, and advocacy. Our programs focus on four key areas: food access, food skills training, food production, and community engagement.

Position Overview

Eden Food for Change is seeking a dynamic and passionate Community Engagement and Event Manager to lead the planning and execution of our major events and community engagement initiatives. From organizing our annual “Taste of Eden”, “Breakfast with Santa” and “Coldest Night of the Year” events to coordinating food drives and school fundraisers, this role is central to building and nurturing community relationships that support our mission.

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, impact-driven not-for-profit environment and is deeply committed to serving others and making a difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate all major community fundraising events and initiatives
  • Lead and organize corporate team-building events in our commercial kitchens and sorting warehouse
  • Establish and manage food drives, local fundraisers, and outreach initiatives in collaboration with schools, businesses, and community groups
  • Design and implement a community engagement marketing strategy in partnership with our communications advisor
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and community groups to increase engagement and support
  • Represent Eden Food for Change at public events, speaking engagements, and media appearances
  • Lead the school-based food insecurity education and fundraising program
  • Develop and oversee volunteer appreciation events and volunteer management protocols
  • Ensure positive, effective communication with volunteers, donors, and community partners
What We're Looking For
  • A passion for community service and a deep commitment to fighting hunger and food insecurity
  • Proven experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or community engagement (preferably in the non-profit sector)
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and social media engagement
  • Flexibility to attend events outside regular business hours when needed
Reporting Relationship

The Community Engagement and Event Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with staff and volunteers across all program areas.
