
Community Crisis Intervention Worker - Relie
Gerstein Crisis Centre provides a range of community based, 24/7 crisis services to individuals 16+ in the City of Toronto. The spectrum of services include, 24/7 Crisis line, Mobile Crisis Visits in the community, Short Term Crisis Beds, Mental Health and Justice Crisis Beds, Concurrent/Substance Use Crisis Team, Toronto Community Crisis Service mobile first response, Follow up Support and an extensive network of collaborations and partnerships to meet people where they are and connect them to the services they need. We centre the voices of people with lived experience and equity in the work we do and take a strength's based, harm reduction, trauma informed approach.
Job Summary:
The Community Crisis Intervention Worker (CCIW) Relief will work across all GCC services and initiatives, providing crisis intervention, assessment, crisis management and follow up services to individuals in the community who are experiencing mental health and/or substance use crisis and are not currently in need of Emergency Services.
Successful applicants will have:
- Availability 7 days a week
- At least 5 years experience providing community-based crisis intervention, mental health, and addictions services strong assessment skills, including but not limited to, suicide risk assessment.
- An extensive knowledge of community supports available in the City of Toronto experience with the mental health, criminal justice and shelter systems.
- A solid understanding of Harm Reduction and Recovery philosophies.
- Demonstrated capability to be flexible and to work under pressure excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English with additional language(s) considered an asset computer proficiency within a Windows environment.

- The position involves shift work which includes days, afternoons, overnights and weekends.
- The position includes some light housekeeping and cooking.
- Successful candidates for this position will require a satisfactory Police Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening.
