Communications Officer
Description
Reporting to Manager of Communications & Special Initiatives and the President & CEO, the Communications Officer will be responsible for ensuring that social media channels are optimized and aligned with CCRAN’s brand standards. The Communications Officer will ensure that CCRAN is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of colorectal cancer information within its diverse network and constituent base. This position will work closely with all CCRAN staff as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.
About Us
The Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) is a national, patient-focused organization championing the health and wellbeing of individuals affected by colorectal cancer, and others at risk of developing the disease. We provide support, education, and advocacy to patients and their caregivers to help improve patients’ quality of life and their longevity. CCRAN has expanded its patient-focused mandate to serve a population of patients with cancer outside of the colorectal cancer space through its HTA patient evidence submissions, educational events, advocacy initiatives, and patient programming to ultimately reduce the burden of cancer in Canada.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement and support the communications plan across CCRAN’s diverse audiences in collaboration with the internal team and external stakeholders.
- Develop, schedule, and manage engaging content across social media platforms to increase awareness, reach, and community engagement.
- Plan and execute digital campaigns around scientific events, program launches, advocacy initiatives, key health awareness days, and organizational milestones.
- Create and edit video content for use across social media, website, and digital platforms.
- Design compelling visual assets (e.g., graphics, infographics, social media carousels, event materials) that reflect CCRAN’s brand identity using Canva.
- Oversee website content and design, ensuring timely updates with hands-on management of the Webflow platform.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics (social, web, email) to evaluate content effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Relevant college diploma or university degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in communications for a non-profit organization.
Preferred Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in social media coordination and digital storytelling.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent).
- Experience in graphic design and visual content creation for social and web platforms.
- Familiarity with Webflow and intermediate-level web design best practices.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing, analytics, and campaign development.
- Maturity with discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite, Canadanva, Constant Contact, and relevant content planning tools. Experience customizing Zoom platforms for large virtual events is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French is a strong asset.
