
Communications Coordinator

Toronto Military Family Resource Centre, MFRC, is a community-based, charitable organization focused on the delivery of services, resources and supports to the military and Veteran family community throughout the Greater Toronto Area. We are located in the area of Downsview Park in North York, and are easily accessible by public transit with free parking on site.
Role Description
The Communications Coordinator will be the first point of contact for families communicating with the centre. They will develop and deliver accessible, bilingual, self-serve information products and innovative promotional content and marketing materials through the use of digital medium. They will develop content for and maintain the centre’s online presence. The Communications Coordinator will use their technical expertise in virtual/video applications to support the virtual delivery of high quality information, programs and services to the military and Veteran family community. They will communicate with military and Veteran families via digital media and in person, to both deliver and receive service related information. This is a full time, permanent, bargaining unit position.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an innovative, bilingual, organizational marketing plan to promote programs and services to the military and Veteran family community;
- Responsible for all aspects of organization’s online presence;
- Create, design, format, proofread and update promotional materials;
- Develop and deliver communications through digital media, social media applications, electronic newsletters and national website application;
- Apply technical expertise to support the development of virtual programming and service delivery;
- Use recognized analytical tools and expertise to assess contact with target community through various communication methods and develop recommendations to broaden reach throughout target community;
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of information and the protection of organizational brand and reputation through communications and online presence;
- Communicate with military and Veteran families via digital media and in person to both deliver and receive service related information;
- Respond to service inquiries (in-person, online) by connecting families with service delivery staff;
- Contribute to collection of service related data using established client relationship management (CRM) application;
- Participate in budget and resource development for relevant service areas.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will, at minimum, possess/demonstrate the following:
- Completion of a University Degree OR College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, Videography or related field;
- Application of education in a professional setting;
- Verbal and written proficiency in both English and French languages.
Required Knowledge
The ideal candidate will possess/demonstrate knowledge of:
- Ability to produce bilingual communication products that deliver key messages clearly and concisely in both English and French languages;
- Advanced proficiency in information and communication applications including Microsoft Office 365, Canva, Meta Business Suite, social media applications, video/virtual engagement applications and web/cloud based applications;
- Knowledge and application of social media and marketing trends and best practices;
- Use of digital analytics to assess community contact and reach;
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, in a social service setting;
- Use of client/customer relationship management systems.
Required Experience
- Experience with graphic design, digital production, videography, video editing;
- Experience developing and delivering accessible communication products with sensitivity to AODA requirements;
- Experience developing and delivering promotional marketing content and materials through digital means including electronic newsletters, social media applications and website applications;
- Experience working in a customer facing environment, with a wide cross-section of the community representing diverse backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic circumstances.

- Understanding of the unique military lifestyle challenges facing CAF families;
- Understanding of CAF communities, systems, policies and practices in order to effectively assist families in accessing appropriate services and supports.
Work Environment
- This is a full-time (37.5hrs/wk), permanent position, based on successful completion of a probationary period.
- Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm. May require occasional work on evenings/weekends.
- Location of work: Toronto Military Family Resource Centre, located at 5 Yukon Lane, North York.
