Position Summary
As the Communications Coordinator at CHEO Foundation, you’ll be the storyteller behind our mission, translating CHEO Hospital, CHEO Research Institute and Roger Nielson Children’s Hospice’s life-changing work into compelling narratives for donors, families and the community. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, you’ll:
- Craft high-impact content (donor reports, social media posts, web copy, media briefs) that inspires giving
- Ensure brand consistency across all channels while adapting tone for diverse audiences
- Support fundraising campaigns and events through strategic communications
- Coordinate work across multiple communications professionals and the entire CHEO Foundation team

This role involves being active in events including outside of office hours and on weekends as needed.

- Event communications: You are excited to work on events, ready to assist our signature and community events teams in brainstorming sessions and executing logistics required for key special events
Primary Responsibilities
Content Creation and Brand Stewardship:
- Draft/edit donor reports, e-newsletters, and social media content that drives engagement
- Adapt medical/research terminology for public audiences without losing accuracy
- Uphold CHEO’s brand voice across all materials (style guide adherence)
Project Coordination:
- Follow and update content workflows in Asana, from kickoff to post-campaign analysis
- Support event comms (signature/community events), including after-hours logistics
- Fact-check all public-facing materials
Strategic Support:
- Assist with donor cultivation/stewardship communications (impact reports)
- Draft briefing notes, key message documents as needed
Qualifications
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing/editing skills
- Strong verbal communication skills are essential to interact effectively with colleagues, internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ability to time-manage, prioritize, and multi-task in a busy environment
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to be highly motivated and able to adapt quickly to new situations/challenges
- Appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to work efficiently, independently and in a collaborative environment
- Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in Public Relations, Communications, orJournalism is an asset
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
