Christ First United Church is looking for a skilled communicator to help us tell our story. We are a vibrant church making a difference in our south Mississauga community and we want people to know. If you are a great writer who can plan, develop and coordinate effective digital and print communications, then we want to hear from you.

Summary of Position
The primary focus of the Communications Coordinator position is to raise awareness among the congregation and community of the programs, events and worship services at Christ First using print and electronic communications. Communications will reflect the call, vision and values of Christ First.
- Part-time, six month contract with possibility of renewal
- 10 hours per week
- Work remotely with meetings on location as required
- Start date: October 2025
Responsibilities:
Communications and marketing coordination
Work closely with the Communications Committee to develop a communications plan and marketing strategy for Christ First. The plan should identify and coordinate communications opportunities that will assist in raising awareness with the congregation and the community about the programs and worship offered at Christ First.
- The plan should include an all channel content calendar.
Brand Management
- Create and maintain a common or uniform look (brand) for communication material in print and in electronic form
- Ensure the Christ First logo is used consistently and appropriately in communications material and products
Social Media
- Use appropriate social media channels to reach target audiences
- Purchase advertising, as appropriate, with the approval of the Chair of the Communications Committee
- Produce assets and schedule through Canva
- Produce a quarterly analytics report for the Chair of the Communications Committee
- Community Management
- Update Next Door account as appropriate
Production of quarterly newsletter
- Develop editorial lineup in coordination with an editorial advisory group
- Write or assign articles
- Review and edit all articles for length and clarity
- Design and produce newsletter using Canva
Media materials
- Prepare and distribute news release or media responses as required
Qualifications
- Communications or Journalism Diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of and experience with Canva, Facebook and Instagram
- Evidence of strong writing skills
- Experience with Google Drive: Sheets, Docs, Drive & Microsoft Office Suite
- Good interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented

Salary range
- Up to CA$25 per hour
