Heart Valve Voice Canada is seeking a dynamic, organized, and creative Communications and Strategic Projects Manager to lead initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, and measurable impact.

This role combines strategic communications, hands-on project management, and community engagement. It is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a small, fast-paced nonprofit environment and enjoys collaborating with diverse partners — from clinicians and patients to funders and national organizations.

Working closely with the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead communications planning and project coordination, while collaborating with external consultants and vendors.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Communications & Marketing

• Develop and implement HVVC’s annual communications and marketing strategy aligned with strategic and fundraising goals.

• Lead content development for campaigns, newsletters, digital platforms, and reports.

• Manage HVVC’s digital presence, including website updates, social media, and newsletters, ensuring consistency of tone, visuals, and brand.

• Oversee storytelling initiatives that highlight the experiences of patients, clinicians, and community partners.

• Coordinate bilingual (English/French) communications.

• Establish and track metrics to evaluate engagement, reach, and campaign impact.

2. Strategic Project Management

• Manage multiple projects from planning through execution, ensuring objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.

• Lead planning and delivery of national awareness and advocacy campaigns, including:

- Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day (February 22)

- Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week (September)

• Coordinate stethoscope check events and other community-based awareness activities.

• Maintain organized project systems and reporting tools to track progress and outcomes.

• Provide regular updates to the Managing Director, including status reports and budget summaries.

• Oversee and collaborate with external vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.

• Identify and mitigate risks to maintain project efficiency and consistency.

3. Community Engagement & Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with clinicians, patient ambassadors, and community partners, to advance HVVC’s mission.

• Develop engagement materials such as toolkits, partnership packages, and promotional collateral for local and national use.

• Collaborate with health institutions, partners, and national organizations to align messaging and extend reach.

• Support partnership recognition and reporting through communications materials and event visibility.

• Represent HVVC at meetings, conferences, and awareness events as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• While a post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred, other academic disciplines will be considered.

• Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in communications and/or project management, preferably in the nonprofit or healthcare sector.

• Demonstrated success leading communications campaigns and projects with measurable outcomes.

• Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to make complex information accessible and engaging.

• Proven organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight timelines without sacrificing accuracy.

• Experience coordinating consultants, vendors, and creative partners.

• Strong understanding of project management tools and processes.

• Bilingual (English/French) proficiency is an asset.

• Proficiency with Canva, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and digital communications platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn).

Personal Attributes

• Highly organized, dependable, and results-driven.

• A collaborative team player who also works well independently.

• Demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and compassion.

• Thrives in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment with shifting priorities and deadline.
