Plug’n Drive is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible environment, where employees feel valued, respected, and supported. We are dedicated to building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we live and serve, and in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), we will provide accommodations throughout the recruitment and selection process. If you require accommodation, we will work with you to meet your needs.
The Organization:
Plug’n Drive is a not-for-profit organization accelerating electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Canada by providing brand-neutral education, hands-on experiences, and strategic insights to consumers, communities, businesses and decision-makers. Our vision is a well-informed Canadian public that understands the environmental and economic benefits of driving electric and is inspired to make the switch.
This year, we are proud to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Since 2011, we have made incredible strides in our mission through a variety of consumer education programs, including the launch of the world’s first Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre (EVDC) in Toronto, the Electric Vehicle Roadshow event series, as well as the Mobile EV Education Trailer (MEET). We also deliver EV test-drive experiences at major auto shows across Canada, helping thousands of drivers get behind the wheel each year.
In addition to our public education programs, we work closely with schools, colleges, universities, and workforce development partners to support student learning and career upskilling in the clean transportation sector. Our corporate partnerships span EV auto manufacturers, utilities, EV charger manufacturers, and many others who share our commitment to accelerating Canada’s transition to electric transportation.
Role Overview
Plug’n Drive is seeking a strategic, hands-on Communications Advisor to lead and deliver high-impact communications across the organization. This role is responsible for shaping how Plug’n Drive communicates with the public, partners, sponsors, and stakeholders— while also executing the day-to-day work required to bring those communications to life.
Working both independently and collaboratively, the Communications Advisor oversees organizational content (website, newsletters, social media), leads communications strategies and campaigns, and ensures all outputs are clear, consistent, and aligned with Plug’n Drive’s brand and objectives.
The Communications Advisor is accountable for both strategy and execution. Where appropriate, they may work with students, contractors, or service providers to support delivery, but remain responsible for the quality, consistency, and timeliness of all communications outputs.
This role offers the opportunity to lead communications for national programming, including the Cross-Canada Tour and key organizational initiatives that support Canada’s transition to electric transportation.
Who We are Looking For
We’re looking for a strategic and resourceful communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You are a self-starter who takes full ownership of your work, balances big-picture thinking with hands-on execution, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities at once.
You are equally strong in writing and visual communication, and confident starting from a blank page to create clear, compelling content. You are comfortable advising others, but also rolling up your sleeves to get the work done.
You are adaptable, tech-savvy, and proactive—able to work independently while knowing when and how to leverage additional support. You are motivated to help accelerate Canada’s transition to electric transportation and take pride in delivering high-quality, impactful communications.
