Role Purpose The Communications Coordinator will bring the Climate Stories Map (https://climatestories.palce, https://crc.place/climate-stories-map/) to life online by creating engaging social media content and drafting clear, inviting emails that encourage people to share their climate stories. This role is essential for building awareness, growing our community of storytellers, and ensuring the platform reaches diverse audiences—from individuals sharing their experiences to educators, partner organizations, and climate advocates. You will help translate the power of climate storytelling into compelling digital communications that inspire action and connection.

Key Responsibilities

Create and manage digital communications for the Climate Stories Map platform:

• Social Media Content: Draft short, engaging posts for LinkedIn and Instagram based on key themes, story highlights, and project prompts

• Audience Adaptation: Adapt copy for different audiences including friends/supporters, partner organizations, educators, and community groups

• Content Scheduling: Schedule posts using our agreed content calendar and respond to basic comments and direct messages

• Email Campaigns: Draft friendly, clear email updates (e.g., "try the beta," "send us feedback," "share with your community")

• Strategic Coordination: Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure posts and emails align with launch milestones and project priorities

Additional responsibilities include:

• Create simple graphics or story tiles using Canva or similar design tools
• Monitor social media engagement and share insights with the team
• Maintain a consistent, authentic brand voice that reflects our mission and values
• Help identify and engage potential storytellers and partner organizations
• Support community building by fostering genuine connections in comments and

messages
• Track content performance and suggest improvements based on engagement

patterns

Required Qualifications

• Strong, clear writing in English with a friendly, approachable, and authentic tone
• Familiarity with at least one social media platform (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook,

Twitter/X, etc.)
• Comfortable learning simple scheduling tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Later) or newsletter

platforms (Mailchimp, Substack)
• Ability to take feedback on drafts and turn around quick edits with a collaborative

mindset
• Reliable time management and ability to meet posting deadlines
• Genuine interest in climate stories and community engagement

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Basic design skills using Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar tools for creating simple graphics or story tiles

• Experience running social media or email campaigns for a project, club, organization, or personal initiative

• Interest in climate storytelling, climate activism, environmental justice, or climate education

• Familiarity with accessibility best practices for social media (alt text, captions, inclusive language)

• Experience with community management or online engagement
• Multilingual skills to help reach diverse communities
• Understanding of social media analytics and content performance metrics

Key Deliverables & Success Metrics
• Consistent social media presence with 3-5 posts per week across platforms
• Engaging, on-brand content that drives story submissions and platform awareness
• Monthly email newsletters or campaign updates sent to subscribers

• Responsive community management with timely replies to comments and messages
• Content calendar maintained in coordination with project milestones and launches
• Growing social media following and email subscriber list
• Increased platform engagement, story submissions, and community connections
