Position Overview:

OAITH is seeking an outgoing, energetic, creative, community-minded person to join our team! OAITH supports over 80 member organizations across Ontario including shelters, transitional housing and community organizations who are at the forefront of ending gender-based violence. As our Communications Coordinator, you will have an opportunity to be involved in a number of campaigns, training initiatives, research and policy projects, prevention and public awareness efforts that form the foundation of our work and support for our members. This is a Hybrid position with most of your time spent remotely in your own office. Travel to the GTA for in person events and meetings will be required.

Communication:

  • Copy editing and formatting written materials;
  • Develop social media content, editorial calander and manage social media channels, ad spends and digital communications through a social media scheduler and organic monitoring;
  • Develop promotional material about OAITH’s services and coordinate the delivery of OAITH member benefit programs;
  • Monitor and produce content for the digital newsletter and job alerts. Provide news monitoring about gender-based violence, femicide, legislative and social policy impacting our members and our larger audience(s)
  • Communicate with learners through OAITH’s training hub, community of practice, social media, website and other generated lists
  • Liaise with the media as needed, assist in the development of media releases as requested and maintains a current database of media contacts;
  • Steward and maintain OAITH brand integrity and visual identities;
  • Work with graphic designers, marketing specialists and other related vendors as it relates to OAITH’s project work that’s assigned. Ensure content is relevant, factual and in line with our values.
  • Update content, respond to inquiries and monitor analytics for OAITH’s web assets (oaith.ca, mulberryfinder.ca, wrappedincourage.ca);
  • Liaises between website developers and OAITH staff, website users to address technical issues
  • Attend, document (photo/video) and provide support at public events with the Executive Director and/or Board Members and attend other meetings/events as assigned in a supportive role.

Administration

  • Ensure member, media, partner and stakeholder contact information is up to date
  • Collaborate with other Coordinators on projects needs including administrative support, registration, information management, event-related support as required and assigned.
  • Extract contact lists, web and social analytics as needed for reporting
  • Communication and follow up with various vendors regarding orders and invoicing as required
  • Support information management by keeping OAITH data metrics records up to date as required
  • Coordinate the registration of in person and online events
  • Coordinate the scheduling, travel and reimbursement for board meetings and project meetings
  • Provide technical support and assistance for online training, webinars and meetings
  • Distribution of information through email, digital campaigns and by mail as required
  • Create and keep up to date organizational branded templates
  • The preparation of materials and communications for and on behalf of the Executive Director as required
  • Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of various projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

What Do We Require?

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in communications, marketing, administration or journalism and 3-5 years related work experience
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to edit dense documents focused on violence, femicide and trauma
  • Advanced reading comprehension skills and the ability to read and search dense documents about violence and trauma.
  • Experience analyzing metrics and reports from our social media channels, websites and other dashboards
  • Experience in simplifying and adapting complex ideas to effectively communicate between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Advanced time management and able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced project focused environment
  • Demonstrated experience to multi-task, coordinate and prioritize multiple requests that may be received at the same time
  • Ability to motivate, problem-solve and deal with complex issues with sensitivity and respect.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing various social media platforms
  • Familiarity with word press content management, web page layout/creation, and web platform development software
  • Ability to utilize graphic, multimedia and video editing tools
  • Proficiency in office applications including excel and google docs is preferred.
  • Familiarity and comfortable working and learning various SaaS and AI platforms/solutions for workplace functionality and streamlining.
  • Access to your own vehicle is required.

What Are Key Assets?

  • Has developed public awareness and public education campaigns about gender-based violence
  • Experience working in a provincial organizations, government relations, advocacy and education based setting(s)
  • Ability to speak and write in both English and French
  • Has experience working in a project-based environments

This position is 35 hours per week with a 4 day workweek option. The 2025 salary range is $52,015.60 to $61,133.80. Benefits, RRSP’s and 3 weeks’ vacation upon successful completion of a probationary period.
