POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical & Recovery Program, the Clinical Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and supporting the clinical team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, participant-centered mental health services. This role includes clinical coaching, program development, staff training, and direct service provision. The Clinical Team Lead collaborates with the clinical team to enhance service accessibility and effectiveness, integrating trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and equity-based approaches into practice. This is a hybrid position working in the office at least three days a week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Leadership & Supervision

• Provide clinical oversight and coaching to a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, peer support staff, and student placement
• Support and model evidence-based interventions and best practices are integrated into service delivery.
• Coach and model Stella's Place clinicians to ensure adherance to all college regulatory requirements
• Provide case consultations and guidance on complex cases, ethical dilemmas, and risk assessments.
• Foster a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach to care.

Program Development & Implementation

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of mental health programs tailored to young adults (ages 16-29).
• Support the integration of innovative and participant-centered approaches, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and blended peer-informed integration.
• Contribute to quality assurance and quality improvement activities and processes, including participant documentation standards, outcome measurement, and participation and leadership in quality improvement cycles as needed.

Staff Development & Training

• Champion and operationalize a participant-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed mental health approach across clinical services, ensuring care is developmentally responsive to the unique needs, identities, and lived experiences of young adults, and aligned with organizational values and best practices.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and oversight on crisis intervention practices for young adults, including suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and team capacity-building to ensure timely, developmentally appropriate, and compassionate responses to individuals in distress.
• Act as an escalation point for urgent participant concerns or incidents requiring interdisciplinary team meeting or higher-level intervention and determine escalation to management.

Participant-Centered Care & Crisis Management

• Ensure services are aligned with a participant-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed mental health framework that is responsive to the unique developmental needs, identities, and lived experiences of young adults, promoting autonomy, dignity, and holistic well-being.
• Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate crisis intervention practices for young adults, including suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and timely, compassionate responses to individuals experiencing acute distress.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• To enhance service coordination, help strengthen partnerships with hospitals, community organizations, and referral networks.
• Work closely with lived-experience advisors and young adult participants to co-design programs and ensure services meet evolving needs.
• Represent Stella’s Place at external meetings, conferences, and advocacy efforts related to youth mental health.

Operational & Administrative Leadership

• Work to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
• Support data collection and reporting to measure program impact and inform continuous improvement.
• Assist in funding applications, grant reporting, and resource development to sustain and expand services.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Integration

• Embed anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and culturally responsive practices into service delivery.
• Ensure accessibility of mental health services for diverse populations, including LGBTQ2S+ youth, BIPOC communities, and neurodivergent individuals.
• Address systemic barriers to care through policy recommendations and advocacy.
• Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s degree in Social Work.
• Registered and in good standing with the OCSWSSW. Ability to submit credentials upon hire.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Strong understanding of systemic barriers affecting young adults, including experiences of marginalization, poverty, and housing insecurity.
• Experience working within an anti-oppressive, harm reduction, and strengths-based framework.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

Preferred Assets

• Awareness and commitment to peer support models and lived experience-informed approaches.
• Familiarity and comfort with digital mental health interventions and virtual service delivery.
• Knowledge of relevant community resources and networks.
• Strong experience in applying various modalities to support participants with anxiety and depression.

HOURS OF WORK & REPORTING

The Clinical Team Lead reports to the Manager of Clinical & Recovery Services. Hours of work range from 9:00a.m. - 9:00p.m. depending on programming.
